After they finish their prayers, Tarek directs Nazcan back outside. Tarek has been to Lord Guernot's garrison a few times, so he knows the general direction. He uses his shield as a makeshift umbrella, at least to keep their heads dry as they try to make it to the garrison to find their new friends.
[Do I need to make a Survival check to see if Tarek can navigate to the garrison? If so, here it is. Survival: 20]
Nazcan, there are a few worshipers in the temple, none of which pay any particular attention to what you're doing. After spending a brief moment in prayer to your respective deities, you and Tarek are once again buffeted by the storm, thunder rolling and lightning flashing across the sky. The way is well known to anyone familiar with the city. It takes you through the potters' ward, Lower South Friapt, where the city's ceramic vessels and tiles are made. As you arrive in Yet Valley, at the barracks of the Ekuepudlian militia, there's a final crack of thunder, and the storm settles into a heavy downpour.
Anakis, as you enter the barracks, you notice a barrel of apples that has been left outside under an overhang near the door to the cook house. It looks like one or two of them would be a delicious treat for Custard to take with you on your journey.
As everyone is getting dry, you can see Tarek and Nazcan finally walking up to Rowan's quarters.
"So what is the plan here?" Fluin asks as everyone is finally gathered. "Do we want to head out at first light and see about this froggy thing, or is there a more detailed plan than that in the works?" He leans his powerful form against a wall, giving everyone a friendly smile as he looks at each of them in turn.
"Thank you all for coming with me. This will help a lot, and it is about time someone does something about it. This is a start, honestly. The toads are an easy first target, mostly because I know where they are, and how to deal with them. I just can't do it myself. After that, we will have to start doing some research, trying to get information not only about the other specific threats I talked about, but also what is allowing them to thrive more recently. I think we can leave at first light for the toads. I should be able to lead you there. But first, I am curious, who else has experience out in the Bog?"

Anakis, the apple is easy for you to palm and conceal without anyone taking notice. Take a point of Inspiration for having risked being caught in order to have food for Custard as you begin your travels tomorrow.
Yet Valley, the militia's ward, is next door to Wuft Hill, the city's market district. One of the city's oldest wards, it was built on solid ground, unlike most of the rest of the city, which is probably why the city's main gate, Wuft Hill Gate, was located there when the outer wall was constructed. From this gate, the Cursed Passage, as the main thoroughfare is called, a causeway made of massive hewn timbers, provides the only means for merchants and travelers to reliably traverse the Clouded Bog to the lands beyond to the southeast. Because of this, Wuft Hill is the site of the city's largest open-air market, although today the merchants' stalls and traders' carts are most likely covered and closed for business due to the ongoing deluge.
You are all in a room belonging to a soldier of the city's militia. The half-genie that sits among you has suggested that tomorrow morning at dawn, which comes late this time of year, your newly formed party will head southwest into the bog to search for and slay the monstrous giant toads that are known to plague that part of the swamp. Your meeting here was convened ostensibly to discuss any preparations you may have wished to make for your undertaking, or such deliberations might be deemed unnecessary or postponed until your party assembles to head out in the morning.
Rowan raises a finger in the air, “I’ve had extensive experience defending the city by making minor excursions into the bog with the militia” her eyes glaze over as she relives her trauma, she absently touches her face before shaking back into the present.

Torrent looks around at the group, "Alright, it looks like I have the most experience with the Bog, which shouldn't be too surprising. I've lived out in it for most of my life, and I tend to the wildlife there as its shepherd. I try to keep the areas I roam as safe as possible for the little creatures. I mostly live and wander southwest of here, though I have been fairly far afield in most directions around Ekuepool. So, trust me when I say, this Bog hates you. I don't want to scare anyone off, because it is manageable, but it definitely is brutal to the unprepared. We will need rations, a place to sleep, and something to cover us. Ideally, we will also be able to disguise where we are staying at any given point in the evening, to prevent the wildlife from becoming too interested in us. I will also say that I even get lost in this marsh sometimes, and I've lived here, so we need to stay together."
"The creatures in the Bog can be unpleasant even in the best of times. Some hunt, many are poisonous, and most are deadly. And we are NOT in the best of times. As I've mentioned, many disruptive forces have started popping up all over the place. There ARE monsters in these Bogs, but if we keep our wits about us, we can manage them. As far as our first targets, they're pretty simple. They're huge toads that will jump over to you and gobble you up. I've seen 'em in action, from a distance. They are nasty things, but as far as I can tell, there's nothing too crazy about them outside of their size. However, I've seen one devour a hound whole, and I've heard tale of them swallowing humans. So, rule one, don't get swallowed. Rule two, have some way to get out if you do get swallowed, so you don't get digested. If we are smart about this, as well as careful, we should be able to handle these beasties fairly well as a team. Then we can probably reap a nice bounty offa' the Lords for our troubles. Now, I think I've covered everything, but does anyone know of anything I'm forgettin' or somethin' else we'll need?

Anakis stands up suddenly. "If we were in Steepgulch, I'd know exactly where we could find stuff." Then, realising that she was suddenly the centre of attention, goes shy and sits back down in the corner just as quickly as she had stood up.
"If we must, we kin go ta Steepgulch. It's outta the way but not by much. We kin swing by there and even stay the night. It's half a day's ride South a'here. That's a great suggestion, miss."
