Yuri darts his eyes to Jophyra as she speaks, he smiles to himself at her discomfort. He knows the failure & bite of the spell have wounded her pride; but knows that the misery of the last few days have gotten to the Elf as much as himself. The constant alertness of being on the road and the delay of resting at the end of their travels amongst their friends prior to seeing about Carro's business is a bitter turn of events. He knows once they are seated by a warm fire, out of the constant rain, and with a pint in hand sharing a warm meal that none of them had to prepare over a campfire will do them all good.
He says with great annoyance, "I second going to anyplace warm. I feel practically frozen from head to toe and it is making me most cross. Jophyra is correct, perhaps we could learn about our comrades there; but regardless we can wait over a pint and a warm meal and get out of this endless rain." With his vote cast, he looks to Gruff and Lokethos for their opinion.
Griff nods to the group. Those paying attention might notice that faintest hint of a smile come across his face. He was glad the others had finally given up entering Carro's shop with no sign of him. He was sure they would be able to find someone more amenable towards helping that the mercenaries in the tavern.
"Aye. A fire and a warm meal will help our mood. And it seems likely we might find some rumor of Carro's whereabouts."
OOC: Carro is a female copper dragonborn wizard, Beagan *Beag* is a male halfling ranger/druid y'all were never quite sure which lol
Setting off on the familiar path around the Landlocked Lady the party passes a large livery, Mardoon's general store run by lesser members of the family, and a shipping and receiving business also run by the Mardoons. They then find the Bowman a hobbled together multi-storied structure made of cannibalized materials that is said to be the oldest standing building in town. It looks like an old fortress build up on and disguising it's former purpose. The front door is close but the high windows are filled with light. As the party approaches the structure they see a group of gnomes in matching clothing emerge slightly drunk but all smiles, surely a good sign of what lies ahead! Going inside the find a great hall. Warmed by a blazing hearth and filled with numerous tables of happy, dry humanoids. A mixture of races meet the eye as a half elven bartender watches over the large room with servers of various races dart through the crowded space taking or delivering orders. A male half-orc bard in deep blues playing an accordion on a small adjacent the large hearth, that has some sort of beast roasting on a spit, stands beside a female air genasi playing a lyre who's wearing matching blue robes. They're very good and have an audience in wrapped attention tossing coins their way... The atmosphere is charged with contentment and warmth, a stark contrast to the outside world.
Seeing no easily accessible entry point from the front, Lokethos walks around the perimeter of the building, looking for any other entry points, specifically ones that wouldn’t typically be used for entry, (ie. second story windows), and thus, in his mind, less likely to be trapped. Remembering Japhyra being shocked, he’ll also be checking for traps on said entrances (Don’t know if that’s a separate roll, so I’ll roll just in case) investigation: 23 edit ooc: Nat 20

Lokethos leaves the party as he investigates. It's not a free standing building but one it a row of three, Carr's shop being the largest in the center of the other smaller shops. An apothecary and a book store. The apothecary is open but the book shop is boarded up and looks like it's been closed for awhile.
*Whispers* meant for this PC only; if you don't want to metagame and you're not this PC don't read below.
Moving around the buildings Lokethos finds himself behind. There are no windows on the first floor of Carro's building but there are two at the second story. He thinks with some acrobatics and a good look out he could get up there to take a look pretty easily. From the alley to the windows however he's too far away to see if they're locked or trapped. Standing in the alley puzzling over what to do next however he hears his companions call out for him to the rejoin them.

Sometimes a Nat 1 tells a better story than a Nat 20 ever could.
Lokethos will go with the party to the Bowman, feeling the dour mood of the party himself and figuring that a warm meal and room would do them all well. “It seems Carro isn’t home at the moment, anyway, so the Emporium will still be there tomorrow. Hopefully the weather gets better so we can continue our search tomorrow”
—————
Entering the Bowman, Lokethos immediately notes the music, and begins to listen and watch. “Some very talented musicians, friends. A good find in such a place as this.” Lokethos takes in the warmth, and says “This seems a great place to rest after our long road here. Thank the gods we’re finally out of the rain.” Looking around the room, does there seem to be any empty tables that would fit our group?
Yuri makes his way to the hearth to drive the chill from his bones. Along the way he stops a server and says, "Greetings fair one! Can I trouble you for a mug of warm mulled wine, my dear. I shall await it by the hearth. Many thanks!" he places a 3 silver coins in her hand and flashes his disarming smile at her.
He then moves to warm himself by the hearth and observes the room and patrons for any sign of Carro or Beag.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Entering the bar, Griff briefly surveys the crowd. Large groups tended to make him uncomfortable, but at least the patron here seemed to be more accepting (or perhaps apathetic would be a better word). Either way, the he slowly makes his way to the bar. "Ale, please. Big as ya got." He gives a friendly smile to the bartender as he leans on the bar, waiting for his order. He closes his eyes letting the din of the crowd wash over him, listening intently for any patron he can hear who seems particularly chatty (and hopefully well-informed).

Lokethos finds a large empty table in the back big enough for his party.
Jophyra and Yuri find the same fair haired human barmaid who gladly takes their orders. Jophyra then scans the room and notices an associate of Beag's tucked in a corner facing the room. A wild looking elven ranger who's brooding there, Aragorn style, smoking a pipe but his hood is down his elven fine and full elven features with white blonde hair are clearly visible.
After making his drink order Yuri goes to the hearth while Jophyra settles down at the table Lokethos found and has seated himself at. She continues to observe Beag's associate.
'What's his name again? Danathan? Dannon. She thinks to herself....'yes' something along those lines....
Griff at the bar finds a smiling half elven man wears a fine purple tunic and gives Griff a very curious look as to why/how a holy warrior stopped over in Shadycreek Run and hasn't smote the whole lot of them! The bartender grins when the half orc settles near him and calls out after Griff's made his order but seems distracted by the room.
"It's coming up friend, but if I were you I'd hide that holy symbol of yours and maybe those nice manners," he flirts with a big grin pulling Griff an ale.
Griff however is too focus on the room behind him to really hear the bartender, a table directly behind Griff is full of adventurers. One of which is complaining about a hunting job they'll not be paid for now that the Emporium is shuttered. Turning back to the bar he finds the half elven man's amber eyes lingering on him and his hand still around his cup with a curiously cocked eyebrow.
Lokethos turns as Jophyra begins to speak, distracted by the music at first. He follows Jophyra’s gaze, searching the crowd briefly before landing the elf. “Ah, him. I believe his name was Dannon, but I may be wrong on that one. It’s been many years since we met with him. But I agree, if we want to know of Carro’s whereabouts, he seems a good place to start.” Lokethos turns to Jophyra, “I think I’ll go and get a drink for him, conversation always seems to go better with a bit of ale. You can start talking to him, see if he’s got anything important to say while sober” he says with a smirk on his face. He’ll then go to the bar and order two of whatever Dannon’s already drinking (if Dannon isn’t drinking anything yet, he’ll get two mugs of ale instead)

Griff nods ath the bartender, "Thanks for the suggestion, but I've endured quite enough in my days that drawing ire for my devotions bears me little worry."He places his hand upon the symbol to Channel Divinity (Emissary of Peace to gain +5 to Persuasion checks for 10 minutes) Hepays for his drink, thanking the barkeep as he turns to address the adventurers.
"Sorry, but I couldn't help but overhear. Did you say the Emporium closed down? Do you have any idea what happened? My friends and I used to travel with the proprietor and were hoping to catch up while we're in town."

Lokethos has no idea what the elven man's name is, he barely remember the man's face but if Jophyra says so then he believes her. Looking over at him the elven man has a mug in front of him and the remnants of a meal.
The band continues to play their joyous tunes as the storm rages outside.
Griff sees the table of adventures who all look up.
"You're familiar...." the gnomish woman calls out to Griff. "Yeah uh...about a week back. Carro sent us to recover some items from a hag plaguing the bog west of town. We've got the hag but lost a member too," the adventures look like they're worse for ware and all hang there heads for a moment, "but the shop's closed. People told us it's been closed three days and Carro's no where to be found," the gnome explains. "Beagan Og's due in tonight to join us," she then explains. "He's searching all Carro's usual hang outs," she adds. "Our other companion..." she trails off pointing to the brooding elven man in the corner who had caught Jophyra's attention, "he's lost his beast companion so it's a bit of a dower evening," she adds with a frown.
Yuri takes the wine brought to him by the serving girl. He slips her another silver piece and asks, "Many pardons, most fair one; but my companions and I were to meet friends here. Perhaps we may have missed them. The wretched rain delayed us. Have you perhaps seen Carro Draakon or Beagon Og abouts recently?"
Yuri sips his mulled wine awaiting her response and basking in the warmth of the hearth. He keeps an eye on Griff in particular, out of concern that his comrades fearsome appearance may draw unwanted attention from those who are too ignorant to look past outward appearences. He keeps his eyes constantly moving across the room looking for their missing companions and keeping an watchful eye on Lokethos and Jophyra at the same time.
"Mistress Carro been missing for days now," the young woman says still frowning, "Beag was in here not an hour ago then heard the news and went out looking for her. That's his group just there," she adds pointing to the table Griff is looming over talking with a gnomish woman. "They'll know more," she adds slipping the coin into her apron and giving Yuri a nod.
Jophyra's got it! His name is Danathan he's a ranger! She also remembers the rest of Beag's new hunting party too.... Looking around the tavern spots the lot of them where Griff is standing!
