The party left the Dwendailian Empire behind passing through the Quannah Breach were two separate ravines in the Dunrock Mountains range left a rough but possible passage. It was once a solid mountain range that seemed to have been torn and sundered into two ravines. At the front base of the breach, was a small outpost built where Crownsguard warned them as well as other people from traveling into the Breach. Lawlessness outside of the protection of the Empire only seemed to attract a certain kind of people. Beyond the outpost, the wider of the two ravines seemed to have the most beaten path, a narrow passage through a treacherous landscape. Sheared twisted walls of stone where the wind would howl low endlessly like a haunted moan often unsettling the horses and sometimes the party themselves but they pressed on. Carro's message was dire and required their help. They would not let down such a devoted friend and former leader! As the party moved through the barren landscape it felt more and more like something had grabbed the mountain range and tore it in two! The sides of it sheer cliffs like an even break curving along a natural labyrinth. At the edge of the breach stood a ten-foot wooden gate signifying the region known as the Greying Wildlands and the true end of the Empire's reach. After almost two weeks of travel, the party entered the outskirts of the swamp from the barren mountainscape. That's when the rain started and never seemed to stop as they finally reached Shadycreek Run. Although a bustling river town in the foothills of the Dunrock Mountains it's was notorious for its dark dealings and even darker denizens. It was a curious place for Carro Draakon to put her magic and oddities shop but ever the optimistic opportunist the Ravenite wizard often made her own fortune in the most unexpected places!
It is the early evening on the thirteenth day of travel. Exhausted from the grueling passage to Shadycreek Run the party finds themselves outside the darkened windows of the Plaza Emporium just off the main street through town. Although it's still quite early, the sun attempts to peak through the grey sky above with a few short hours before sunset. The door of the shop is closed as well as locked. With no signs of life in the shop itself the party is puzzled! Looking around the party notices mostly the townsfolk seem curious but standoffish. While some, however, watch the party with keen interest as to what reason brought them to town but more importantly the Plaza's shuttered front door!
"I think I'd take the pass again over this constant rain." Griff takes no mind of the curious looks the groups draws as the rain clatters against his armor. Typically, time away from town was reinvigorating for the half-orc, but the constant rain over the last few days had begun to take its toll. He would be glad of a warm fire and dry accommodations tonight. "I feel as if I never may be dry again."
As the group approaches Carro's shop, a puzzled look washes over the paladin's face. "Well, that certainly could be taken as an ill-omen." He looks around for a friendly face who he might be able to ask about the status of the shop. "Perhaps we can find someon..."
He is interrupted before he can even finish his thought. Jophyra is already in the process of picking the lock. "...Or we can just break in I suppose." Griff gives a half-hearted sigh as he waits for the elf to complete her work.
Yuri is miserably wet & cold, two things he takes great offense to. He trudges through the muck and the mud on the street stoically. Visions of a warm hearth and an opportunity to get dry and change into warm clothes. As he travels through the town, he notes the changes of businesses his old habits of staking out vulnerable shops or individuals for later clandestine visits is second nature.
As they approach the Emporium, he becomes concerned to see the shop locked up. He notes Jophyra's move to try the lock, he raises an eyebrow and thinks to himself, "She must be as miserable as me." He deftly moves to block the view from the street to obscure her actions. He looks around the street to see if anyone is overly curious about the going on's at the Emporium.
Lokethos marches with the rest of the group through the streets, and, seeing the discomfort of his friends, casts Prestidigitation on each of their clothes to warm them up for an hour, “That should help us until we make it into the Emporium.” As they reach the emporium, Lokethos takes note of the curious onlookers, and as Jophyra begins picking the lock will say “Breaking into a building is not a good first impression to make in the denizens of this town, let’s hope they’re not too curious about our actions”, and cast Thaumaturgy to make thunder boom away from the group in an effort to distract them from noticing Jophyra’s actions.
Yuri notices a grubby looking human boy who had eyes on the shop dart off after spotting them. He notices most people carry weapons openly and they all look like a 50/50 mix of townsfolk and mercenaries.
Lokethos illusion works on some townsfolk who hurry off the streets but a particular focused group of mercenaries standing under the overhang shielded from the rain outside the tavern known as the Landlocked Lady still look on curiously at the group.
OOC: Jophyra still need the DEX save.

Jophyra takes half of 3 lightening damage as her tools set off a lightening grasp trap on Carro's locked door. This is seen by the curious mercenaries who all look on with amusement as the rogue sets off the trap!
"The dragonborn ***** set up lots more if you're willing to test them out we'd pay you," one merc shouts.
"We haven't tried them all yet...." another of his compatriots pipes up as they all laugh.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Griff chuckles, shaking his head at Jophyra. "Not sure why you felt the need to break into a friend's shop. Perhaps another tack?"
He approaches the mercenaries, "Gentlemen, it sounded like you had some dealings with the shop's proprietor. Despite my elf friends attempts to break in to the shop, we are actually looking for the owner. Might you know where she might be?"
Jophyra doesn't seem to understand the trap or the lock.
Approaching the group of mercenaries Griff gets a few whistles and laughs.
"No half man. We don't know where that lizard went," a toothy dwarf says with a shaved head and thick beard braided with bones and gold. "We're not the welcome wagon either. Unless you need someone or something killed we have no business here," he adds as his compatriots chuckle.
Yuri checks to ascertain that Jophyra is not to seriously harmed from her attempt, while keeping an eye on Griff.
Once he has assured himself that his companions are well enough for now, he clears his mind and envisions the layout of the shop in his mind. He focuses on the likely spot Carro would be in, her study/office. <OOC: again assuming we've been there before.>
He casts message and reaches out with his mind seeking to contact her. As he casts the cantrip, the pupils in his distinctive yellow eyes lengthen becoming more reptilian in appearance as his sorcerous powers manifests. He mentally states, "We have answered the summons, Carro. It is late, cold, and wet; but we have come."
Having heard no response, Yuri settles in for a long wait. He pulls his cloak closer about himself. He displays the infinite patience that the others have come to know him to display over the years, less action be needed for then he strikes with the speed of a striking serpent.
He leans against the building with only his eyes moving as he surveys the comings and goings of the town around him. His pupils slowly return to normal as he awaits the arrival of whomever the young boy left to inform of the party's arrival at the shop.
Lokethos can see there's a second floor which he knows is Carro's living space above the shop. From the street there are two darken windows facing the street. There is a large display window that's shuttered on the first floor.

Seeing no easily accessible entry point from the front, Lokethos walks around the perimeter of the building, looking for any other entry points, specifically ones that wouldn’t typically be used for entry, (ie. second story windows), and thus, in his mind, less likely to be trapped. Remembering Japhyra being shocked, he’ll also be checking for traps on said entrances (Don’t know if that’s a separate roll, so I’ll roll just in case) investigation: 12 edit ooc: Nat 20

The rain falls harder on the group as thunder echoes off the mountain. The mercenaries move inside out of the rain now falling at an angle. The town was miserable to start but now the weather as well as the disappointment of Carro's disappearance seems much more worrying. The party knows of a less nefarious taverns called the Bowman they took rooms in their first visit. It's not a palace but it's dry and relatively safe in comparison with the Landlocked Lady. The sun is obscured by clouds as the storm rolls into full force startling the parties horses as the general unease seems to fall over the party.
