We have had a player that hasn't met the requirements for responding for a couple of weeks and no heads-up. That being said, I have re-opened the recruiting thread.
Here's the deets:
- it's the Sunless Citadel campaign although I have made some adjustments and changes but overall, that is the module.
- current party composition: Genasi Paladin, Hobgoblin Rogue, Elf Wizard (War Magic), Dwarf Cleric (Forge)
- the requirements are the same as above, with a strong reminder to be active in the game!
It was a dark night out on the vast seas, shrouded by dense fog, as a smuggler’s vessel neared a mysterious ship. The mysterious ship, on closer inspection, appeared to be adrift or abandoned. With no clear signs of life, the smuggler rafted up his ship to the other ship then boarded. The smuggler searched the entire ship, only to find nothing but a young human boy, about three years of age, below deck tucked away in an empty barrel. The boy was all by himself – cold, wet, and starving. What had happened to his caretakers? How did he come to be in the middle of the sea?!
This smuggler was known as an elven male called Thenerios Vatsk. Theneiros took the boy back home and raised him as if he were his own, given the name of Sucrale Vatsk. Thenerios was a high-ranking member of the local Thieves’ Guild, so Sucrale’s upbringing was far from normal. Theneiros taught Sucrale everything he knew as he mentored him in the arts of thievery and espionage.
As years went, Sucrale excelled in the trade of espionage, smuggling valuable information – thanks to his rigorous training, discipline, and innate abilities. Sucrale often sailed the seas with his father, where he tracked and reported shipping or trading routes that contained high value targets for the Thieves’ Guild to plunder or sell to the highest bidder.
Life was good for Sucrale, until one ill-fated day. A powerful merchant lord, Ugrotir Coinmaker, had mysteriously gotten wind that he was a target. With this knowledge, the merchant lord laid out a trap and captured Sucrale and his father. Both were tortured for what felt like weeks, in attempt to obtain valuable information about their employer and their plans. Theneiros was loyal to the Thieves’ Guild and Sucrale was loyal to his father; therefore, attempts to glean any value information failed.
Disappointed, Ugrotir brutally beat Sucrale’s father to death as he was forced to watch. Sucrale’s torture continued for several more days, starved of food and water. His body looked as if it were mauled by wolves – covered in burns and deep wounds. His left eye torn from its socket. Ugrotir had enough and left Sucrale for dead, unable to escape from the chains that held him.
Fortunately, fate was finally on Sucrale’s side. Agents of the Thieves’ Guild miraculously managed to track down Theneiros location, only to find his decomposing body at Sucrale’s feet. Sucrale’s life clung onto a thread as the agents freed him from his chains. The merchant lord was nowhere in sight.
Sucrale was brought back home for medical treatment. Theneiros’s body was also recovered, burned and scattered across the sea. After Sucrale’s recovery, he was given the opportunity to join the Thieves’ Guild, should he prove his worth.
Character Description:
You see a tall, slender human male with tawny skin and dark brown hair that falls to his shoulders, pulled back into a half-pony. Scars are no stranger to his body as they can be seen across the entire thin mass that is his body. A black eye patch is worn over his left eye, hiding away whatever misfortune or secret* that lie behind it. At twenty-seven years of age, he looks older than he is - his body aged and worn from a harsh lifestyle.
* Beneath the weathered eye patch hides his hallowed eye socket occupied by a polished rare black diamond, which acts as his totem.
Shere traveled the world in his troupe playing his lute and backing up his patron and enjoyed the lime light for awhile
But now thanks to a shipwreck they've been separated so he adventured on his own working for coin and the smiles on peoples faces still hoping to find his troupe one day
Name: Gadston Race: Variant Human Class: Warlock-Hexblade Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Before the staff, Gadston never had much ambition. He grew up on one of the local farms and though not the brightest or strongest he was very likable and folk had a soft spot for him. Gadston's life was one of simplicity. He found work as a farmhand and his only goal was to earn enough money to buy his own farm and live out the rest of his days doing what he loved. Then came the day he found that body.
He was on the back 30 acres of the farm, near the woods folk avoided, when something caught his eye in the woodline. a person was just sitting there, their back against one of the trees. Gadston waved hello but got no response and after a few minutes he walked up closer, that was when the smell hit him, this person was dead. Gadston looked around to see if there was any danger but finding none he crept closer. Something caught his eye. To the left of the body was a quarterstaff. The staff appeared to be made of ash wood and had intricately carved runes up and down it. The more Gadston stared at the quarterstaff the more he wanted to pick it up. Unable to contain himself, Gadston rushed forward and snatched the quarterstaff up. The world around him seemed to disappear and golden light seemed to pour from the weapon itself. Within moments the light faded and Gadston came to. He is not sure why he did what he did but, he drug the body back into the wooded area and dug a grave. Gadston stripped the body of what he could use then placed the body and the rest into the grave and covered it up, taking the things he could salvage home with him.
The changes that came to Gadston were subtle at first. He seemed stronger and faster. He knew about things he never even heard of before. When a goblin raiding party showed up Gadston was one of the first to chase the goblins down and with his new quarterstaff, he was able to defeat them almost singlehandedly. Gadston became the talk of the village and everyone shook his hand and slapped him on the back when they saw him. Beaming with pride Gadston took to patrolling the lands around the village but, something kept nagging at him. A yearning to move on, to see the world. Unable to be satisfied now, Gadston has left his home, compelled to see the world and make a name for himself. Somewhere in Gadston's mind, however, Gadston suspects it's not his own desire to explore but something that he met that day when he buried that body.
One player cannot keep up their commitment to the campaign, so we are looking for:
a) someone to take over their spot (newly level 3 paladin, genasi - you could change what you like in terms of oath and spells to start); OR b) a new player with a new character! I'll work them in somehow. (level 3 - current party makeup: hob rogue, elf wiz, dwarf cleric, tabaxi bard)
Requirements:
- posting at least once per day --> this is a big one for us and often it is more than once when we have combat or a good flow going. Multiple day no-shows without explanation unacceptable!
We are nearing the final level of the Sunless Citadel. We may move on to another campaign afterwards, if there is interest.
If you've previously replied to this thread and are available, just quote your original reply to show interest.
Hello Lothar, I would love to join you! I would be glad to take over the level 3 paladin, if that would be least disruptive to your flow. I can keep up with the posting requirements and would love to join you on any future campaigns.
Or, if you would like a new character to join, meet Halyassa, she is a tiefling hexblade warlock.
Halyassa grew up alone, always on the run. She was raised at an orphanage in Neverwinter. She seemed to come from well-to-do parents and always seemed to have a benefactor looking after her, but she remained hidden away from her parents. As she grew up and learned the streets she joined a network of spies in Neverwinter, and she began to build powerful connections, enjoyed a relatively lavish life… until a powerful person found out she had sold secrets belonging to them. They burned everything to the ground, and she went on the run, dodging assassins and checking over her shoulder at every town. She never sits with her back to the door. She was able to create another identity to hide her true background. She would like to seek revenge one day and discover who her true parents are. She is not aware of her benefactor, the spirit that communicates with her in her sleep, guiding her for what purpose she does not know. She has been given the gift of sight and accuracy and she is deadly with a sword.
