Lander smiles as he looks up at Fedex and Riona. "Haha, very funny you two. I'm all set. You can bring me up. Nothing of note down here, except one cold halfling. Next time Keg can go in the well!"
"And next time don't ask for me to hold you up like a child to reach a top-shelf. But honestly, I have no problems killing this dwarf woman, but I do have a problem with the Wolfman."
After Lander is out of the well and is drying off, Fedex addresses the team. “I think it is time to put the matter of the fate of the dwarf to a vote. I have been struggling with this since we first resuscitated her. And I’m afraid the deciding factor for me was her vow to make our lives hell for as long as she draws breath. I believe her oath is sincere and born out of a malice that is irredeemable. Therefore, I vote her life is forfeit at this location. What say, you all?”
"This really pains me, but I did more thinking while in the well. Life should never be taken indiscriminately. However, this dwarf and her associates were not nice people. They murdered innocent travellers at this very spot just to steal some coin. Would I prefer to bring her to justice with the proper authorities? Of course. However, she has made it abundantly clear that she intends to make our life a living hell if we keep her captive to return to town. What if she escapes somehow and injures more innocents? Fedex makes another good point that if we turn her in, she would most likely be tortured and ridiculed for days before her trial and likely death. Having him do it here may be the most humane. I don't relish this at all, and I'd prefer not to watch, but I agree, her life should be forfeit here." Lander puts his head down, walks a little bit away from the others and continues to dry himself off.
"I agree, and with her wounds the travel will be hell for her as well."A pained look crosses Riona's face as she says this through clenched teeth unable to look any of you in the eyes. You all see her hands clench and relax a few times.
"Lander, Fedex, Keragri, would you boys mind collecting some wood and starting a funeral pyre. These folk may not have lived a holy life but I think we still owe it to them to give them a proper send off, and ...seeing as we don't have shovels a pyre seams best."
Her gaze then turns to the unfamiliar man. "If that is all I suggest you move on, you don't need to be here for this."
Finally she makes her way over to the dwarven woman, once the boys have set off on their task and turned their attention away. "My dear, will you do my a favor and close your eyes."

the following will happen if no one objects to the decision but it seams our choice was unanimous, i am assuming my charm spell is still in effect as it lasts an hour and does not require concentration. Also not sure how you handle stuff like this so if you still need me to roll for an attack let me know and ill edit the post to include that

Once the woman's eyes are shut Riona draws the dagger from her hip and as delicately and swiftly as one can, she delivers the final blow, a handful of tears falling down her face.
Riona: Durothil crosses his arms and says, "I beg to differ. This is one loose end I wish to see tied up. If you all proved incapable of meting out justice here, we would have done so." tilting his head in the direction of Lupa. The large wolf's eyes are focused intently on the Dwarven Woman. Both man and beast watch as you deliver the final blow. Once justice has been served, Durothil and Lupa bid you all farewell and depart for the treeline.
Fedex brings his first armload of suitable wood and deposits it in a pile. He stops briefly to place his hand on Riona's shoulder. "That was a skillful cut" he says softly but appreciatively. And then he runs of words to say, so he continues making trips gathering fire wood. After enough wood has been gathered for the pyre(s), he recruits Keragri to assist bringing the bodies and placing them on top. Finally, yet without restraint he blurts out, "I really don't like that guy" referring to Durothil.
All: So that... was All In A Day's Work! Thank you all for your awesome participation! I was very impressed with how well you adapted to the PBP format. The role-playing was top notch as well! I had intended this to be a short adventure, but thanks to you all, I feel that is has evolved into something more. I set it up to tie into the Baldur's Gate, Descent into Avernus module, if that sounds like something you guys might be interested in, let me know! Before I get anyone's hopes up, I will say that I am not 100% sure that this is something I can commit to at the moment. Even in the PBP format, DMing can be exhausting for me. It's something I enjoy very much, but it's something that can consume me if I let it. Right now, committing to a long-term campaign is very daunting.
Especially with the golf courses opening up around town, May 1st ;)
If I get to the point where I feel comfortable and ready to commit to perhaps another chapter our of adventure together, I will reach out to you all!
Feel free to continue to role play and post to this thread. I'll respond to any questions or comments, but I won't be moving the story along anymore.
I'm interested in feedback about our adventure as well, if any of you are comfortable with sharing it. What you liked, didn't like, things I can improve upon, whatever you feel like sharing.
I encourage you all to continue to play and seek out new adventures here on the dndbeyond forums! Who knows? Maybe we'll find ourselves in a party together!
Lander goes off to help Fedex and Keg gather some fire wood. He makes multiple trips, obviously carrying less than his larger companions. Once they have enough wood, he walks over to Riona, where he now notices that she has executed the prisoner. He gives her a hug and says, "I know that must have been tough for you. I think we made the right decision though."
A few moments later, he hears Fedex say "I really don't like that guy." He laughs and turns to him. "You know, I think I wholeheartedly agree with you. I can usually get along with pretty much anybody, but his personality rivaled Hell *****. I imagine he's the life of most parties." Lander then gets a bit serious for a minute. "Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize for earlier. I was a bit in shock as I'd never killed anyone before, then we had some horrible decisions to make. I wish I was strong like the rest of you. Hopefully I can get better at all this.....stuff."
(OOC: I'm all in if you decided to continue this. I think you did an excellent job as our DM and I loved every minute of it. Do we acquire any XP for this adventure, or generally is that something that is not done in PBP formats?)
OOC: Thank you, thank you, thank you for the adventure. I really enjoyed my first pbp excursion and look forward to more. Please feel free to send me a dm if you come across an adventure that you'd like me to join in on. That's for all y'all. It was a real pleasure sitting at the virtual table with you all. Hope to see you in the forums.
"Thank you all, and Lander the fact that it was hard is good, its what keeps us grounded." She gives him a knowing nod and by the creases on her face you can see it never gets easier, not for her anyway.
Once the pyre is built an lit Riona places a hand on Fedex and Lander's shoulders and look up at Keragri.
"Well I think I may head back to town then, would you gentlemen care to join me?" She says with a wide and hopeful grin on her face.

this has been really fun thank you all! I would love to continue playing if you get to a point DMing where you can run more of this story i will keep my eyes open for any notifications!
Lander: It's pretty much the same as a table top session, the DM will usually decide whether they want to level up by XP or milestone. I've seen both on this site. I prefer Milestone myself, and should we continue this adventure you will all gain a level once back in Hill's Edge.
"Town sounds like a great idea. You think we should try and get that work in Baldur's Gate that Durothil talked about? Who knows, maybe we could make a difference in some people's lives." Lander smiles as he looks at them all. "Kinda off topic, but who do you think would win in a best personality contest? Durothil, Hell *****, or Keg?" He laughs as he checks to make sure he has all his belongings before they trek back to town.
