"Chiquita do not give out too much information, or promise it, less we could be robbed or end up as stew, but I guess its too late. We are considered as meepo says bait. Be more careful how you word things"
Ithelion smiles in amusement, "What exactly did I give away? That we are good torturers? And 'bait' is how Daemyar refers to Meepo, and now Meepo (maybe) thinks it's a term of respect. But I do think Meepo is much smarter than he pretends: the Queen might kill him otherwise."
He strums his lute once more and replies in another message "Just be careful I no wish to be this Queens go too for torturers"
Ithelion laughs, and then quickly stifles it, "Shere...High Inquisitor to the Queen of the Kobolds. For the right price, charming someone is a mercy...compared to the alternatives..."
Shere sends one last message "Mercy is not giving in to evil"
Ithelion gives Shere a strange look, clearly not comprehending if there is some hidden meaning she missed, "Resisting evil? That's just common sense. Mercy? That's the withholding of punishment or reduction of suffering. To charm someone is merciful in comparison to torture. Yet sometimes killing is a mercy, if it reduces suffering. Your definition is so broad as to cheapen the meaning of the word."
When Meepo is done, Ithelion signals for him to come closer, then asks quietly, "Why shouldn't we mention gnomes?" Gods, I hope they don't have their own menagerie of prisoners.
With her sheid equiped again Garnet feels much more herself again. She doesn't sit with the other but she is not completely out of earshot. She can practically feel the animosity her actions caused but she struggles to ignore it. Instead focusing on her equipment a method she uses to sort through her own thoughts. Cleaning as much grime away as she can, readjusting her armor and pack making sure everything is secure and ready. She considers Daeymar's words ,his current position, and she feels shame for how she reacted. However she does still feel the same about the goblin, mercy should have been attempted. After all Daeymar himself is a hobgoblin, a traditionally violent creature prone to evil. Yet here he is,fighting with them even against his own kind.
When Meepo has a break from the others Garnet will ask him if he has seen anyone else enter the temple after them. She would also like to know if any Kobolds have been effected by coruption.
[Garnet might actually know this bit of lore, she can roll a history check with advantage, but everyone else could try a roll as well]
@daemyar Meepo perks up at your question and rubs his hands together..."Ohhhh, Master Bait, you love this stuff. It make you super brave and con-coff-covefefe-covefefeident, ugh - it make you sure you gonna be good!" Meepo seems a bit flustered by the tough big words but manages to get his point across. "Kobold people make it for Meepo and warriors when they do fighting!"
@ithelion Meepo's eyes bulge when you whisper "gnome" to him, and he looks around quickly at the other kobolds in the vicinity (there are none, really). "Shhh, kobold people don't get 'long with 'em, fer what they done."
@garnet Meepo looks at you strangely, "Meepo don't know temple - what a temple? Maybe you mean tent pole?"
"Perhaps daemyar is a new breed of hobgoblin one who's seed will produce generations to inspire humanoids everywhere with love and honor. Songs written about him, of bravery and great feats of heroism, No?"
He can't help but chuckle a little having to pull his hat down to hide his face
Ithelion checks Daemyar's reaction to Shere's remark. Good thinking! Perhaps ridicule is the right approach...nothing else seems to get through. I'm certainly not the one to beat any sense into him, if that's what hobgoblins do.
"No, no, senor thats not what I meant what I said was true but with a jest added to what the mini dragon said, you read too much into what people say. Your history is noble and so are you! May I suggest to learn to Ignore or laugh at those who say, otherwise." Shere shrugs "If you can laugh it will make you feel better."
Ithelion shakes her head, "Daemyar -- you are not a coward, but you are behaving like an idiot! Every time you moan and complain about lacking courage, your are letting the others win!" she waves her arm in the direction of the last encounter, "A demoralized enemy is a defeated enemy. That's what they want -- you are doing their work for them!"
@garnet and @ithelion Putting your heads together, you are able to piece together remembered bits of lore and history about the gnomes and the kobolds. You remember that the kobolds were actually responsible for gnomes coming into existence - or something like that. You do recall that the kobolds blame the gnomish god - Garl Glittergold - for tricking Kurtulmak - the kobold deity - and causing the roof of a mountain to come crashing down on the kobold deity. You know there is more to the story, but at this point, that's what you remember.
Meepo disappears but before doing so tells you to come to the Queen's hall when you're ready, after resting. There you can ask about the other way into the goblin's section if you want.
Daemyar stares indecisively at Meepo.
“What’s gooshy?” He just shakes his head at Ithelion’s comments.

Daemyar considers Meepo and enjoys the distracting lizard’s idiosyncrasies for the first time.
