Lunargrimme Lunargrimme is a world of perpetual gloom. The distant sun only appears for a couple of hours each day, hidden behind grey clouds. The rest of the day belongs to the moon and its children. Lunargrimme is the domain of the monsters of the night. Vampires, werewolves, undead, and other horrors born of nightmare lurk in the shadows, preying upon the mortal inhabitants of the world.
The inhabitants of Lunargrimme live in constant fear, gathering in scattered settlements surrounded by walls and struggling to raise crops under a deficient sun. With magic, gunpowder and fire they manage to survive.
Welcome to a world where the gods are distant and monsters live under your bed, where night rules the day and bullets clash with magic, where blood is cheap and the dead don't die. Welcome to Lunargrimme.
The Campaign Greetings, adventurers! Lunargrimme is a fantasy world of my own creation into which I have thrown elements of sword and sorcery fantasy, gothic horror, and the gunslinging wild west. It was heavily inspired by Ravenloft, Innistrad, Solomon Kane, and H.P. Lovecraft. It is a dark, gritty setting which will tax the sanity and endurance of your characters.
I have been playing D&D 5e for three years and have experience as both a player and DM. The games I run focus on roleplaying and exploration rather than combat, with gameplay mechanics being secondary to a good story.
House Rules I will be incorporating a number of house rules into this campaign, mostly pulled from the DMG. These include fear and horror saves, slow natural healing, firearms, increased chances of exhaustion, and lingering wounds. This is to give the setting a grittier, more realistic tone. I'll go into more detail on these house rules later.
Character Creation Characters begin at 1st level, point buy ability scores, milestone advancement, encumbrance on. Instead of starting equipment, we will use starting gold, with which you will buy your equipment. Equipment available for purchase this way includes - All of the equipment options in the PHB, with possible exceptions. - The firearms options introduced in the Gunslinger Critical Role subclass - The renaissance explosives found in the DMG
If you are interested in participating in this campaign, please send me a PM with your character race (and subrace if applicable), class (and subclass), background, and a brief character concept. Don't sink too much time into a backstory, because we'll work out the details together. - Racial options: Human, dwarf, elf, halfling, gnome, tiefling, half-elf, half-orc, aasimar, orc (orc of Exandria or Eberron orc), changeling, kalashtar (reskinned as dreamborn), shifter (descendants of werewolves and are known as weretouched), warforged (reskinned as golems), and undead (a homebrew race I'm working on, let me know me if you're interested.) - Class options: All PHB content, Blood Hunter, and Critical Role Gunslinger subclass. If you're interested in using UA content or a subclass from another sourcebook, run it by me first. - Homebrew is not only allowed but encouraged, and I'm happy to collaborate on homebrew creations, provided it is consistent with the Lunargrimme setting as outlined so far.
This thread is now closed. A warm thanks to everyone who submitted a character for consideration. I appreciate the time and effort that went into each one, and I regret that I can only accept six characters from among the many applications. Good luck in your other campaigns!

Cheers!
Very interested, horror campaigns are always fun. Interested in possibly playing an undead.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Interested. I will DM you with deets about a character I tried to get into another PbP campaign who might work with this one.
Definitely interested. I’ll DM you the character concept as soon as I finish making him.
Dm'd!
One position remaining! The party needs a healing class (druid, cleric or paladin.)
