"Err, I say, is that man quite alright? He looks most... unhealthy." Halec speaks to Abygail and his allies in a somewhat hushed tone, not wanting to be rude to the man who might have an unsightly skin condition.
Halec mutely hands over the two silver, trying to think of a way to approach the subject. “We’re outsiders, sir. Are the people of you or village, err... healthy?”
He looks at your group with a not-as-serious "You think this is some kind of sickness?" He points at his neck, just below his palm is a mark shaped like a dragon scale "Naw, this... this is my mark of courage, got it in an avalanche" He puts his hand down "So, kitchen's up top, rooms 2B, 2C, 3A, and 3E are yours for the night, have a nice one."
He puts a hand over his face🤦🏻♂️ "You outsiders don't listen, do ya. I said I got it in an avalanche. There I was, climbing the mountain, trying to reach the top when I slipped, I fell down to the base of the rock, cut my leg, and then... snow. Snow began barreling down the mountain, covering me completely. I was trapped for what felt like a day, I couldn't feel anything in my neck, but when I felt all hope was lost, I heard a voice; it was Abygail. Thanks to that heroic woman, I was able to get out with a leg injury, hypothermia, and this here mark of courage."
"Ah, some sort of effect of frostbite perhaps," Halec says. "I've heard of the extremities changing colors, blood pooling and freezing and whatnot, but it's quite harrowing to confront firsthand. These people are strange to us, Harbek, but this is their world in essence. A kind of closed culture, an ecosystem all to itself. I'm sure our ways of warmth and comfort and an absence of nearby ice dragons all seem quite alien and unusual to them. We all have common ground, however. Unless the Ruby Snowflake is restored, these people and their way of life is also imperiled. I don't know if the dragon egg theft has any connection with the Snowflake's shattering, but many strange things are afoot in this land. I am hopeful we can be of aid, and in turn that this will get us closer to our goal."
There are three floors above the dining room, all the hallways are identical; short with a red carpet spanning crookedly across them. There are 5 room doors on each of the floors; 3 across from the wall with the ladder, and 2 on the same wall as the ladder on either side. Neatly painted on each of the doors are a number followed by a letter A through E. The first floor of doors feature the number 2, the second floor of doors feature 3, and the third features 4.
Everyones' rooms are all alike; it is a square-shaped room, a square window sits on the opposite wall of the door, there is a wool sheet bed in the far left corner, an empty trunk in front of the bed, and a stone fireplace making up the right wall.
Ophiwalyn, a hot cocoa sits at the foot of your bed
Halec finds the room he was assigned and makes himself comfortable, unloading his heavy pack and starting a fire to warm himself. He takes a few moments in quiet respite, feeling the chill leave his bones, and says a prayer to the gods of the forge and the flame. “Keep my warm, ye builders, and help me put these broken pieces back together and build a future for Snakeskin Valley.”
Halec braces his portable ram at an angle against the door of the room, and hangs his net over the window, as mild security precautions, then removes his icy cold half plate armor, and lays down for a warm night's sleep (full rest) with the intention of searching for the cause of the missing dragon eggs in the morning. He keeps his hand crossbow and bolts in the bed with him, an old habit he has yet to break, and likely will not until he retires from adventuring, if ever.
Everyone takes a long rest (hit points and spell slots are replenished).
Halec wakes up to find his crossbow bolts scattered around the small room, the case sits open on the floor beside the bed.
Harbek awakens when his window flies open, the cold air quickly fills the room, extinguishing the last ember of his fireplace and chilling the sheets of the bed he sleeps in.
Everyone finds a small parchment note under their door reading:
Halec does a quick inventory to see if anything was stolen, or if his bolts were simply strewn around the room in the night, and, if satisfied nothing is missing, chalks it up to a restless night's sleep and dons his armor and prepares to set out to meet the others.

Nothing was stolen, the door has no signs of forced opening, and the window is shut tight. Apparently, the case fell over in the middle of the night and the bolts scattered.
Halec greets the others as they assemble in the common area of the inn, also looking for Abygail Chyld, their local contact and expected guide to the dragons' nest. If the inn offers food and drink for patrons' breakfast he partakes, otherwise he munches idly on rations and drinks water from his waterskin, while waiting for everyone to assemble.

"Err, I say, is that man quite alright? He looks most... unhealthy." Halec speaks to Abygail and his allies in a somewhat hushed tone, not wanting to be rude to the man who might have an unsightly skin condition.
(Abygail did not go inside)
The man speaks up just as Halec finishes his sentence. "Ey, ya gonna buy a room or not, its 2SP a night, a person."
Halec mutely hands over the two silver, trying to think of a way to approach the subject. “We’re outsiders, sir. Are the people of you or village, err... healthy?”
I would go buy a hot chocolate, then walk to Halec and say "Woah, mister. Whats wrong with your skin? You got some kinda disease?"
Harbek hands 2 SP to the man and then looks at the people in the room
can he tell if any other people there have the same type of "disease"
He looks at your group with a not-as-serious "You think this is some kind of sickness?" He points at his neck, just below his palm is a mark shaped like a dragon scale "Naw, this... this is my mark of courage, got it in an avalanche" He puts his hand down "So, kitchen's up top, rooms 2B, 2C, 3A, and 3E are yours for the night, have a nice one."
"Who gave you this 'mark of courage' " Harbek asks
He puts a hand over his face🤦🏻♂️ "You outsiders don't listen, do ya. I said I got it in an avalanche. Harbek shakes his head and walks away, he whispers to Halec "These people sure are strange"

(Waiting for a response from the others...)
Harbek puts down his gear and then lays down to rest

Harbek jumps up and looks out the window
if he sees nothing he puts on his armor and heads to find the others
