Gaston was a humble resident of a quiet village. Every day was like the day before. In that village he got himself something of a reputation. Everyone loved him. Everyone....except the one who mattered. In spite of his insistence and charming attempts, the lady of his dreams would not return his affections. It never made sense to him. He was charming! A hunter who had loads of friends and desires for a family. He was a man that could provide for her after the imminent passing of her crazed artificier father. But instead of going the road of freedom with Gaston, she spurned him as an illiterate brute.
It was a sad time for Gaston. After a night of mild carousing with his friends, he was awestruck at his luck! Her father, the crazed artificier, reported the girl missing! A beast had captured her. It was hard to believe...it being a quiet village after all...but Gaston still saw his opportunity to rescue the girl and win her affections. Well...one thing led to another and eventually there he was staring down the vile monster and poised to rescue his damsel in distress. It was his change to win her love and have his very own happily ever after. But the beast had bewitched his Belle! (Turns out this beast was a snobby member of the aristocracy who had been cursed for being an a$$hole to some poor old lady before being an a$$hole to Belle's poor crazy father and then kidnapping her! I mean...Gaston was insistent, but he never kidnapped anyone!)
Anyway...at the last moment Belle betrayed him and the monster tossed Gaston off the top of the highest tower of his dark and stormy castle.
Gaston barely survived (basically rolled a Nat 20 Dex save and the DM botched the 10d6 falling damage roll...all ones....) and wandered off into the night wounded and full of shame. He knew all too well the crushing defeat of losing his love to a horrible monster (now a sexy prince? a BLONDE?!) and was keenly educated on the evil of princesses.
Not telling anyone how to live their life...but other thoughts I had were...Frollo (Cleric/Noble)...Scar (Tabaxi Rogue/Spy)....Iago (Aarakocra) ...Maleficent (Black Dragonborn)
All of those are excellent. You do the one you like best
Do you have alignment requirements/restrictions? I saw you said good guys and bad guys. I have a pretty twisted backstory in mind so would be slowly siding into evil alignment.
Prince Philip is well known for uniting the kingdom of his father King Hubert with the kingdom of King Stefan and Queen Leah, when he married their daughter Princess Aurora. Better known in legend as Sleeping Beauty. It's been said he's friends of Faeries and possess magical arms but that's all in the past. Once the adventure of saving the sleeping princess with his kiss was done and the reality of ruling set in he found that life as a ruler was tedious and boring. What was worse is that he had an awful secret that ate away at him. He had done more that just kiss Aurora while she was in her cursed sleep. It's been eating away at him and his marriage for years. He's taken to hiring in women in hopes of replicating the experience but it always falls short.
When he heard of the Duchesses plight he played it off to Aurora that duty called. He must go and help break this evil curse. But all he could think about were the tales of lust that seemed to surround Snow White. Perhaps... maybe... she could fill this terrible void. He MUST find her!
(Told you it was pretty twisted, haha!)
Yeah. I'm not interested in **** themes. If that's in, I'm out.

Huh, I can't be the only one who knows that Sleeping Beauty IS a **** story. It was changed and toned down in different version over time but the supposed True Love Kiss was a direct leftover of the **** in the original story.

Well aware. Doesn't change the fact that I'm not interested in accepting or embracing it in my fantasy games.
Sorry if I offended anyone. Part of the DM's description is "she found several signs that her daughter had been torturing and killing small animals. Then engaging in mind control magics, and necromantic rituals. Then jewels, and diamonds started appearing. Guards who had served the duchess loyally for years had turned from her in favor of a sick lust for her daughter"
Seemed like some pretty adult and twisted themes are part of the campaign. Tying sleeping beauty in seemed right in line. In any case, that's totally fine. I'm not trying to change your mind or anything. You're opinion is totally valid.
I appreciate that. I see a distinction between fighting against magical mind control/manipulation of emotions and using **** as an explicit plot hook. I'm not offended. I just have no interest in playing that game.
No worries at all! It was an on the fly choice to tie it in that just jumped in my head so I ran with it. I wouldn't want to be in a group with a character that made me uncomfortable either! Which has unfortunately come up more than once, lol. Cheers!
Probably just should have gone with my second choice Baloo, a wildshape druid but there was already a druid proposed :)
Plenty of mages in the game but if someone wanted a cleric there is Claude Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Only cleric I could think of but there are probably more out there.
Oh! Marvel is part of Disney now....... That's probably not a door you want to open for this setting, though. 😊
A: yes, we’re not looking for **** themes. Glad that got cleared up fairly quickly.
B: it is, and so is Star Wars.
C: no one’s done Hercules characters yet... tiefling warlocks anyone? Or Megara for that matter.
D: clerics! I can see Frollo. Or Tzekel-Kan from El Dorado would be a good one. Dr Facilier from a Princess and the Frog, although he could be a warlock or wizard just as easily

Paladin - warforged - orange
I’ll leave this up for another day or so then pick out several. These are fantastic ideas, so I hope you enjoy making them.
And remember... princesses are evil
Paladin - warforged - orange
Yuuuuuuuuuup! 😁

I think someone already picked up Frollo earlier in the thread.
You are correct, I missed that.
Hades the Grave/Death Cleric?
