Nuté frowns at that as he ponders the possibility of being asked to kill a dragon. I suppose they might...but killing a dragon...no no no no unthinkable. Not unless its absolutely necessary for self defense. How could anyone want to kill a dragon?
Another guard comes out of the shack while you're talking, this one of an obviously higher rank. He scans the group, eyes flicking to each face. I am Captain Gilliard of the Watch. I've been told to expect you. I trust you have your letters? He continues before you have a chance to produce them. Good. Follow me...if we open the gates I fear there will be another mad rush. We have a back way in and out. He starts off without waiting for you to follow, or to make sure you were. He leads you through the guard house and around to an iron door set into the wall. Arrangements have been made for each of you to have room and board at the Yawning Portal, so don't worry about that. I believe you're to make your way there, and Mr. Erlanther will fill you in on more details there. Good luck. He unlocks the door and holds it open for you.

Back and ready to DM and chew bubblegum. And I'm alllll outta bubblegum.
Anyllis stunned silence from being starstruck. THE Giant Slayer, only five, ten feet in front of him. This would make a fine tale to share back in Neverwinter, although... dragons? The genasi (another tale indeed!) pointing out talking to dragons. A possibility, sure...
The half-elf followed, quiet but polite... and managing to hold a level of calm after meeting a few prominent figures back in the north.
Nuté scoffs at the idea of killing a dragon in any capacity other than self defense and even then only as a last resort. My friend I think you may be underestimating the sheer ferocity of dragonkind. They are not so easily slain, and even still to murder a dragon would be a crime to all of Faerûn. Though I do suppose exceptions might have to be made if there is a great enough danger but let's hope not.
Nuté leaves the talk of dragons at that, and once he hears the mention of the Light of Lathander he becomes quite curious. That is quite an impressive title Ms....ah I didn't quite catch your name. I'd imagine you must have done something to earn that title? I would be interested in hearing about it over tea at sometime.
"I'm sure you can find suitable stabling for your fine steed at The Gentle Rest Stables. It's but two blocks from our destination. I know that area quite well. I spent many years in the Wards at the tables of the various gambling houses" he addresses Arilla. To Areon's question he replies "My training would be for naught if you had heard of me. Think of those stories where an abomination has met it's maker and there is no tale told by the bards, that may have been me. Fighting from the shadows brings no fame, only satisfaction" He offers a slight head nod to end his brief prologue.
The guard nods at Phidi. I'm sure Durnan would have something as well.
The door closes and locks behind you, and you see that inside the gate is much the same as outside. Refugees are crowded around the inner walls as well, reaching all the way to the homes and market stalls. The city is always noisy, and today it's even more so with the extra crowd. Weaving your way through, you start to make your way to the Castle Ward and the Portal.
A sudden shift in the wind brings with it a strange sense of unease. The feeling is akin to the drop in air pressure before the approach of a deadly storm, or faint tremors felt from a landslide or earthquake far away. You’re not the only ones who have noticed. The city around you goes unnaturally quiet suddenly. No dogs bark, no birds squawk. Even the street vendors have gone silent.

Nuté doesn't seem to notice anything is off at first until Areon says to look to the sky. Pulling back his hat from covering his eyes Nuté looks around eagerly for anything of interest.
The skies remain clear, and slowly the level of noise returns to almost normal. It's still a little subdued, and Sundance is noticeably skittish. Nuté, you see that other animals are acting strangely as well and ducking out of sight.

Wheeze has pulled out a long dagger and a throwing knife, a bit lamely. In a low voice “Well don’t just stand there, take cover!” He finds as solid a building to post up against as he can, looking up and out.
You duck off the street and into a quiet alley. In the quiet, you each feel....something. Like a rumbling too faint to hear. It's disquieting, and unnatural. The skies remain clear.

Moving without a whisper, Phidi enters the alley. Heeding Wheeze's warning he takes cover in a shadowy alcove. From a different vantage point his eyes look to the sky, as he too scans for what may be causing this disturbance. The unnatural feeling making him feel both uneasy and anxious. "Anyone felt this before? It has a sense of dread to it. I don't like it."
Wheeze smiles at Nute. “I mean, that’s nice you think we’ll be talking to a dragon. I’m fairly certain they want us to kill quite a few though.”

Wheeze enters quickly. On his way to the Yawning Portal, he’ll be watching around town to see the sort of impact all of this has had on people.

Arrila enters, thanking the man. "Quick question, where should I stable Sundance? Does the Yawning Portal have stables?" she asks.
