Somewhat confused at the mounds sudden change, Elias focuses himself at the tasks at hand.... All the answers of the fae courts... and to escape somehow....
he looks to his group of bewildered and awed companions, trying to settle their nerves with a goal and an adventure.
He gives Odysseus, the only other apparent man-of-faith, a simple plant-woven symbol of Chauntea; "Take this; the great mother watches over those in her domain..." [there are spares if anyone asks for one]
addressing everyone, he continues
"I agree with Aiden and Mabellis, it seems like the best option we have, and it isn't beyond our capabilities to round up some faeries... I say we should take his offer up on guiding us to the border of the forest and pointing out that village"
Elias turns to the treant "you've been very helpful, I can't thank you enough. What are you called? So we can convince the faeries you're in need of them, well as for us to remember you by if we're led astray."
"well he responds rounding them up is not your best option... try enticing them with gifts and DONT startle them." he seems slightly amused by Nick and says "i am called rootwood." he then says in a slightly impatient voice "please hurry i dont like things out of order in my lands"
"Wait, one more question before we go," Mabellis says. "Is there anything that fairies typically like for gifts? Or is it a case-by-case, every fairy is different kind of thing?" She ponders it over. "Or maybe a better question would be what do they not like. Just so we don't accidentally anger them."
he sighs and says "well most like food and trinkets" then he adds "they would probably like those berries you had earlier, just make sure you dont get too close when you first see them"
the treant grabs Nick and holds him upside down and yells angrily "DONT MAKE FUN OF ME YOU LITTLE MIDGET" he then effortlessly tosses Nick to the ground and calmly says "if i could i would teleport you back home but i cant so go to the faeries or be stuck here forever" he then walks a little closer to nick and says "i dont think you would last very long by yourself if you left my lands"
Mr. Rootwood just made himself a nasty little enemy for misunderstanding the gnome.
"You know coming from a guy whose worst nightmare is a fat guy that eats pancakes and wears plaid shirts, your opinion isn't worth much Sir Fireplace Fuel"
Nick spits the dirt he got in his mouth from being dropped by the tree, at the tree.
"Touch me again and well see who doesn't last long."
rootwood draws himself to full height and says "DO NOT CHALLENGE ME!!! i do not wish to fight but if you continue to challenge me you must leave though your companions are welcome to stay." then he sits and says to the whole group "if you wish to leave then head to the faeries"
Completely ignoring the tree puffing its chest out, Nick waves him off with a "oooh, soooooo scary" look and hand raise.
He leaves in the direction of the faeries, waiting a good distance up the road away from Rootwood.
Trying not to let all his anger out on one object, which literally had just landed him in jail, hes gunna go out of earshot and scream about how he's going to come back with a box of oil lamps and show that peice of overgrown oak what a real challenge looks like. About how he's annoyed with magical creatures and about how he hates being called short. Once he has, he just sits on a stump and waits for the group.
Elias is slightly taken aback by Nick's outburst, not because the ball-of-rage wasn't expected to blow off some steam, but because he challenged a (friendly) treant! Of all things!?
The image of Gnome-paste is a distant, but all-too-real passing thought.... Which reminds him of the awe he felt when facing the enraged tree himself.
continuing with the group, after hearing of goodberries being good offerings: "Those ones from earlier should help endear us to them. I can make more, but try and make due with what we have, to start with at least."
then he asks Rootwood one last question, in sylvan, just before the forest breaks:
"You mentioned danger to the East, I can't just forget that.... Even if these faeries are our first priority. Are Unseelie lands truly that close to the Enchanted Forest, or have i misunderstood what dangers lay eastward?"
[finishing in common, at a more audible tone] "I truly cant begin to repay your hospitality Rootwood. Blessings of Chauntea upon you and your woods."
Edit - OOC: I think you could describe the town unless someone else wants to do something in the forest or with the treant.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Elias goes ahead to wait near Nick's stump for the rest of the party, after saying his farewells to the forest and Rootwood.
"That sure was brave of you to stand up for yourself like that, I certainly look forward to seeing how you do in a real fight!" he says to Nick, with a hint of a grin.
He checks if there's anything he can see outside the forest's boundary: [particularly if he spots the faerie settlement close by]
"Crazy thing was, I didn't even insult him. I was saying "man, who do those faries think they are? Throwing me around like that!" And then he goes and throws me around, like THAT? Oh no, he was a swing away from being my next gig."
He puts one leg on the stump in "the captain" pose.
"Id call it, "Oak's Smoke: Superior Pipes and Firewood." Sounds good huh?"
He laughs,
"Yeah but that didn't happen so he'll get to go on being his old grumpy self. Let him have his teleporting dirt."

Nick lights up,
"Yes! A name, I should very much like your name mister and or miss Tree."
A slight hint of sarcasem, nearly an eye roll, and a chuckle later, he repents,
"But somewhere not near teleporting dirt would be nice, lead on, good Sir and or Madame Tree."
"well he responds rounding them up is not your best option... try enticing them with gifts and DONT startle them." he seems slightly amused by Nick and says "i am called rootwood." he then says in a slightly impatient voice "please hurry i dont like things out of order in my lands"
Oic: what did Elias give to Odysseus? Berries?
,
goodberries are magical food
"Wait, one more question before we go," Mabellis says. "Is there anything that fairies typically like for gifts? Or is it a case-by-case, every fairy is different kind of thing?" She ponders it over. "Or maybe a better question would be what do they not like. Just so we don't accidentally anger them."
he sighs and says "well most like food and trinkets" then he adds "they would probably like those berries you had earlier, just make sure you dont get too close when you first see them"
Gliding right over the idea of giving gifts to strangers, especially tricky little fairies, Nick comments,
"Angry? Oh, I'll show those little devils angry!"
flustered, he whips back to the tree,
"Please lead us to the land of the flying cupcakes, Sir Rootwood."
Chuckling with a sneer, Nick walks up behind Rootwood and waits,
"Teleport me will you, you little bastards? I'll show you what its like to wake up in a different pile of dirt than you went to sleep in."
He starts to stab at the air with his cane like an old man pointing to the top shelf in a store.
the treant grabs Nick and holds him upside down and yells angrily "DONT MAKE FUN OF ME YOU LITTLE MIDGET" he then effortlessly tosses Nick to the ground and calmly says "if i could i would teleport you back home but i cant so go to the faeries or be stuck here forever" he then walks a little closer to nick and says "i dont think you would last very long by yourself if you left my lands"

OOC: thanks for finally leaving to find the faeries XD
Ooc: clearing things up;
Evereyone recieved 1 goodberry(+1hp as an action, a days food; good for first aid) when Elias returned with the treant.
He gave Odysseus a symbol of the nature godess after seeing you pray. Just RP, it doesn't "do" anything.

OCC: okay, lets get things moving can u head to the faeries now

"the evil lands in the east are not that close, but for your own sake do not head there..."
he responds in sylan

there is a small path leading south...
(your passive perception is better XD)
Nick looks up with a hint of pride,
