Well some good news, and you already said the 'bad'.... He gets to keep grumpin' about the woods, sure, but you get to keep Gnomin' it up out here!
I was worried for a minute.... In your encounter and mine; they're quite fearsome when aggravated.
Win, win? You may even get back to Faerun and be able to sell some "Oak's Smoke: Superior Pipes and Firewood." as your very own Gnomish invention.
That magic dirt may be our only way home... try not to get yourself banished from accessing it so we have to sneak you out or something. Though... that's always an option I guess.
Wait here a second in case they catch up."
Elias continues on the path, into the open, for about ~200ft to see if he spots any buildings or structures indicative of a faerie settlement, before returning to wait with Nick for the group
[If seen: Elias ask in sylvan if a berry will get them to spread good word of us to the village, and ask those who wish to help Rootwood to come see us when we return. He'd also check if they speak common for the sake of his companions.]
no the path is through the forest, sorry for not clarifying.
while you continue up the path you spot a small village, with tiny houses in nooks in the tree, with pixies and sprites flying around doing daily chores and sitting around
Mabellis is furiously scribbling on her parchment as she walks behind Nick and Elias. She's writing down, not just what she's learned about the faeries, but everything she sees as well. Even if the plant life seems the same as home, it's still important to take note of that.
"Yes, in a fight, you'd be great," Mabellis comments to Nick once Elias goes ahead to scout. "But try not to set the faeries off; this is a chance of a lifetime that I don't want ruined. And if you do set them off, don't be upset if I pretend not to know you." She looks up for the first time in a while, giving Nick a wink and an impish grin.
She's back in her notes by the time Elias returns. "Well? How does it look?" she asks without looking up.
Seeing that some of the others have arrived made Elias a little more excited about the faeries, partially because of Nicks lack of enthusiasm towards Fae but more so because he just saw a whole village of them.
"It looks like a nice place, still in the wood to my surprise. They make their homes inside of the trees, how wonderful is that!? Seems to be a village of Pixies and Sprites, as far as I saw.
It's not that far from our stump, though it might seem farther for a faerie of their size.
Other than the faeries and tree houses you could swear it was a regular village back home, in miniature. They were all just going about their daily business, talking, doing chores. I honestly wonder if there's not shops for tiny creatures there too."
"As far as aggression goes, I agree to defend myself and nothing more. I didn't teleport myself here. I didn't ask for that tree to pick me up. All I did was ask him to point me in the right direction and insult the faeries. He heard it as an insult to him, and took it upon himself to act. Nobody said anything about that, but I'm the aggressive jerk?"
He gets upset again,
"I will not be thrown around regardless of how my words are understood."
He turns left, and looks away, muttering
"Do not touch is a pretty common courtesy, even if you're a stupid talking tree."
He waits, more patiently and calm than you'd think. Seems pretty used to this feeling he's expressing and he's learned to handle it well.
After all, he didn't hit the tree back. He didn't even threaten the tree back.
All in all, he seems proud of himself, but not arrogant. He handled it better than his past self and thats good enough for now.
Nick stands up and stretches, a slight smile returning.
"Who needs 'em, long as they're cool, ill be cool."
“So, does anyone here have any experience dealing with faeries?” Aiden asked since he knew very little about the creatures outside what he’d had read or heard about them. Up until this moment tell he’d been preoccupied with his thoughts and hadn’t been paying attention the group conversation if one them had mentioned having past dealing with faeries he likely missed it.
"Experience, no. But!" Mabellis shoots her head up at the chance to talk about faeries. "I've been researching them! I just started, so I don't have too much info yet--that's actually why I took that orc job in the first place; to make money for research--but they're crucial to my topic, so I've come across facts, tidbits, and stories about them now and again. It's hard to research nature and not hear about faeries at least a dozen times." Her eyes dazzle as she looks to the way that supposedly has the faerie village. "And now I get to put that knowledge to the test and see what's true and what's false. I can write the most accurate book on faeries ever. Maybe a whole series!"
She might very well continue to yammer on if someone doesn't stop her.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Adien had been listening to Mabellis enthusiastically talk about the fairies, she seemed to have a lot of interest in learning about them. Unexpectedly a branch fell from one of the trees landing right in front of him, moments the wizard heard snicker coming from the trees. Whoever a drop the branch seemed to think it was amusing. Aiden wasn’t amused though he looked up at the trees trying to see what a nearly drop the branch on. “It seems the fairies found us.”
Mabellis looks up. She didn't hear anything at first, being so deep in her ramble, but one can only ignore their companions' alert look to the trees for so long. Is it a faerie? She really hopes it's a faerie.
Don't startle them, Rootwood had said. Might as well make their presence known now.
"Hello?" Mabellis calls, looking around the trees. "Anyone out there? If so, we'd like to speak with you!" She digs in her backpack, already searching for the goodberry. "We have gifts!" That should entice them, if Rootwood is to be believed.
Elias unbuckles and drops his sheathed scimitar [and anything they'd consider a weapon] on the ground, then looks at his companions suggesting they follow the Faerie's instructions as well.
"It seems they may know Rootwood; we should be fine leaving these here for the time being. Maybe we should hide them in a tree hollow or bag for safe-keeping?"
I never really was one for weapons anyways, but my companions treasure theirs; best not to have them stolen.
"I was... uh, surprised, to say the least.

OOC:
Clarification: a path out of the forest? Right?
Edit: cleaned it up a bit

no the path is through the forest, sorry for not clarifying.
while you continue up the path you spot a small village, with tiny houses in nooks in the tree, with pixies and sprites flying around doing daily chores and sitting around
As soon as he spots the Fae village, he's careful not to startle them on the retreat.
He returns with knowledge of the location to tell Nick, and the rest of the group once they meet up with us.
OOC: lets wait, & set out with everyone?
|Elias Petrichor|Wood Elf|Druid|Faewild Adventure|
yeah wait for everyone else

suddenly a small branch falls right in front of aiden and in the trees you hear a small snickering sound in the trees

Perception Check: 23
he sees nothing but he can hear more quiet laughing ahead of them down the path
Nick clicks his eyes up for a moment, not even lifting his head.
Perception: 7
"Oh yeah, there's definitely something up there."
he sees nothing as well but hears the laughing
Mabellis looks up. She didn't hear anything at first, being so deep in her ramble, but one can only ignore their companions' alert look to the trees for so long. Is it a faerie? She really hopes it's a faerie.

suddenly the berry is taken out of her hand and it goes through the air into the trees you cant see what took it
As the berry disappears, Elias is startled, but a little pleased at them making first contact.
Looking up at where the berry disappeared, he says;
"We're here for rootwood's sake, he needs help with the faerie mound!
I can make more berries, at my discretion; they're yours if you help, but are not as susceptible to magic tricks as your free sample there."
[Common, repeated in Sylvan if necessary.]

a quite voice that seems to come from all around you replies "follow me" as a 1 inch tall pixie apears in front of you
she leads you to the faerie village and 50 ft from it tells you to drop any weapons or you will be put to sleep
she seems friendly but doesnt talk much
Elias unbuckles and drops his sheathed scimitar [and anything they'd consider a weapon] on the ground, then looks at his companions suggesting they follow the Faerie's instructions as well.

With an absolute calm unbefitting of him, Nick responds,
"This cane is very important to me."
He waits for where the group places theirs, and places his cane ontop.
He shuts his eyes placing it down, and proceeds back to the group.
