Aishela considers herself a researcher more than an adventurer, although her "research" happens to take her into dangerous dungeons and other contested locations often enough that she has obtained the skill set of an adventurer. She began as a Sage, with training as a Rogue, developing Expertise in Perception and the use of Thieves Tools to disarm traps and open locks. Soon after she found her calling as a Cleric of a deity with the Knowledge domain (TBD based on the deities used in the home brew), which provided her with added insight into the natural world, as well as the worlds of the divine and the infernal, as well as the ability to Idenity magic items. She has obtained one Uncommon Magic Item from her expeditions to date, but she intends to discover many more magic items, as well as lost knowledge of bygone eras. The strange demiplane of The Valley provides a wondrous opportunity for learning and knowledge.
There is a certain impractical streak to Aishela, as it's unclear to her whether she intends to write scholarly publications, to take on a university position, or advance within the ranks of the clergy of the god of knowledge. Her own skill set is useful for any adventuring party, but in part highly impractical, as her interests in the ancient secrets of the planes have led her to study the tongues and angels, dragons, demons, devils, and even the primordials, but not the more practical languages such as those of Dwarves or Elves.
In terms of moral alignment, she tends towards neutrality on both the Law/Chaos and Good/Evil axis. She is interested in knowledge for its own sake, but has little concern for the ethical outcomes of events. She can come across as somewhat cold and callous, with her clinical observations of various situations, rather than expressing actual sympathy, but this is simply a facet of her personality. If something interests her, she will seek to learn more about it, regardless of whether it is of good or evil origin, or whether the laws of society approve of her research or not.
Salys Pingun was a soldier fighting in the Last War on Eberron when he was caught in the blast which created the Mourning, instead of being killed, he was thrust through to another realm.
Salys was originally just another artificer working to arm his countries soldiers, eventually, in order to learn how to better create better weaponry, he decided to enlist in the military himself to see what it was really like in combat. He proved himself a capable soldier, and developed a unusual combat style of riding one of his Steel Defenders into battle while attack at range with firearms and simple magics. His superiors were planning on sending him back to the labs to create larger versions so that human sized soldiers could also ride them and then train them to do so effectively when the Mourning struck and everything changed for him.
I usually like to keep things fairly simple to start with and flush it out with the campaign and DM, if you'd like anything else, let me know.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If you are still recruiting, I'll throw my hat in for consideration.
I introduce Sir Reginald the Eccentric. A gnomish adventurer, inventor, and recently knighted lord. He kept the title; but found being a Lord and running an estate was much too tedious for the likes of himself. So he bestowed it upon his cousin and took to the road once more.
Sir Reginald is an Battle Smith Artificer who is always tinkering both physically and magically to better his jousting prowess. His mount and best friend in this life until the next is Chomper. His two legged reptillian designed Steel Defender. <Think cute little T-Rex> Together they leave no curious happenstance unexplored which easily explains their wandering into the campaign.
Ser Reginald has the typical gnomish countenance; but his visage is graced with a great bushy beard, eyebrows, and wild hair gives him a certain foxlike appearence. His companions often referred to him as Fox.
