got kicked out of his cult because he kept playing banjo music during demon summonings and everyone got pissed at him and kicked him out and now he is on the run because the cult realized that he knows to much and now they are trying to hunt him down and kill him so there secrets are safe
Backstory: Root waking up found himself surrounded by humans in a small fishing village, getting up exhausted he asked what happen. A young village woman named Yvette helped him up, she explains she found him washed up on the shoreside. Trying to remember Root recalls being on a boat traveling somewhere but he could recall where. A storm must have came crashing down on him and the crew but to forget why and where, perhaps this was a sign from the gods. Grateful Root bows and vows to repay her kindness she gave him. Root stayed and helped the fishing, he was abnormally quick often catching fish with his hands or using his fire breath to roast fish for everyone. He had many fun memories and he grew fond of the village especially Yvette and their peaceful life of fishing but something kept crawling to his mind. An omen, a warning perhaps it was destiny calling but, one thing was certain he would miss the village. Packing his things Root set out to find his past but first he promised Yvette and the villages once he was done with his pilgrimage of self discover he would return to stay for good.
your welcome to accommodate the fact that the cult is chasing in the story to make it more intresting
Thoradin FireForge
Class: barbarian
Race:Tiefling
backround: Haunted One
ability scores: standard array
backstory: raised by dwarves deep in the depths of a mountain and was raised to be a good person but years later he was charmed into joining a cult because they thought he could be useful because of his infernal heritage they made him forget everything of his past life and he blindly did what they said but one day the cult told him to execute a young dwarven girl, and he remembered his past and realized that what he had and was doing was wrong and left the cult in a furious rage killing every cultist he could before storming out of the cult with the young dwarven girl and now he is on the run because the cult realized that he knows to much and now they are trying to hunt him down and kill him so there secrets are safe, but he is still trying to find the mountain where he was raised and find his family that raised him.
Backstory: The story surrounding the mighty wizard Halaster, the Undermountain, and even Durnan has been a topic of interest for the not-so-mighty gnome wizard (and tinkerer) Jinzic since she was young. For centuries, Jinzic has been dreaming of a trip into the Yawning Portal to discover the secrets it holds. However, the older she got, the less sure she was of her ability to survive such an adventure. (Though she would never truly realize it, she is both claustrophobic and agoraphobic, so there was no way she was ever going to make the trip.) Finally, almost reaching the end of her life, Jinzic decided to retrofit one of her constructs — one she had created as a kind of musical companion — to make the journey for her. Bestowing upon it some rudimentary fighting skills and the ability to learn and adapt, and fitting it with a sending stone to be able to send instructions and receive daily reports, Jinzic sent the construct she dubbed Gling, meaning "music" in Gnomish, to Waterdeep to descend into the depths of the Yawning Portal for her.
Personality: Gling was created to be companionable and musical. It can play both the flute and bagpipes, though Jinzic only sent its flute with it to Waterdeep. It enjoys conversation and encourages it, as Jinzic can become lost in experimentation and has no friends, so it's Gling's job to bring her out of her shell and add socialization to her daily routine.
Physical description: Gling is only four feet tall — the height of a tall gnome. Its armor is smooth, made of dull silver metal, and is sparsely adorned with filigree, arcane runes, and even tiny embossed musical notes. It doesn't have a particularly masculine or feminine structure — though its voice sounds feminine — and it identifies as neither gender. It wears a kind of toga of light brown material more to ease the sensibilities of those around it rather than out of necessity.
Backstory: Thoradin was born in the great Mountain Dwarf city of Kel Kuldir. But while he was born into a happy home, he soon found himself being raised by the Order of the Crossed Axes.
His mother, Helja Orcbender, a merchant, disappeared suddenly one night. Rumors had it she was really a Rogue on the run. His father, Kildrak Orcbender, a strong Fighter, died in battle defending the city against an invading Frost Giant army when Thoradin was quite young. His only relative, an old uncle, Tordek Morevir, wanted nothing to do with him and placed him in the care of the Order of the Crossed Axes - followers of Clangeddin Silverbeard, the god of war and strength. They tried to raise Thoradin as a priest, but he was always getting into fights and misadventures. Never mean spirited but far too much of a fighter to ever be a priest he trained and fought as a soldier, dreaming of recovering the great axe his father lost in battle, "Thrym Slayer", a treasured artifact of the Order. Seeing his natural aptitude and love of fighting, the Order guided Thoradin to the path of a Paladin.
Thoradin is happiest with a stein of strong ale in one hand and his axe in the other. He views barroom brawls as great fun and tests of strength. He would be very confused if someone told him a Paladin shouldn't get into drunken brawls. Isn't Clangeddin Silverbeard all about strength and war?
Thoradin is starting on the adventure's path to serve his god by recovering "Thrym Slayer" from the Frost Giants and with visions of raising an army to destroy the Giants once and for all. All with a song in his heart, a beer in his hand, and the next fight just around the corner
Following in the footsteps of his father, Astiax spent his entire adulthood smuggling valuables in and out of Baldur's Gate in an, albeit unsuccessful effort to leave this existence of poverty and insignificance behind him. One day a strange tome went through his hands. Naturally curious and somehow feeling strangely drawn to the book, he took the opportunity to study its contents extensively. He soon realized that it contained a series of rituals intended to reach out to a higher power.
Astiax felt that the powers and riches promised by the procedure were the only means to finally achieve a better life, even though he suspected that there would eventually be a price to pay for them. Always willing to take a gamble, the young man followed the instructions in the book and pledged himself to the fiendish being he conjured. Then, for a time nothing happened and only recently Astiax began to develop a range of unnatural abilities. Now the young Warlock set out in his quest for more power and a better understanding of the bargain he struck.
I've been playing 5E for about 3 years, having previously played AD&D as a teenager. I'm 50/50 DM/player - my longest running campaigns are as DM in a weekly on-line in-person CoS campaign that has been progressing for a tad over a year and is reaching it's climactic conclusion, and a L6 Dwarven Druid player in a Discord PbP that has proceeded through LMoP and is now in uncharted territory.
Name: Arwen Wildthorn Race: Halfling (Ghostwise) Class: Druid (Faith: Charmalaine, the halfling hero-goddess of Keen Senses and Narrow Escapes) Standard array: Str 8, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 10, Wis 16, Cha 12. Background: Folk Hero (Animal Handling, Survival, Woodcarver's Tools, Land Vehicles, Rustic Hospitality)
Backstory: Arwen was always a bit different. He seemed to spend more time alone, in wooded glades or other natural places. He had a way with the animals; they would come right up to him and eat out of his hand. A neat trick to impress the girls. Well, the girl. But she'd moved on, and so had Arwen - wanderlust they called it. But he still held a metaphorical candle out for her. At least he had his beloved animals. He didn't cope so well with cities though. Cities meant taverns, taverns meant wine, wine meant morose evenings, a sore head, and a general lack of recollection of the previous night's events.
Update: Hello everyone! After a lot of deliberation, I've come to a decision on which characters will be joining me for this campaign. Those who have been chosen will receive a PM from me shortly. To the rest of you, thank you so much for applying, and I wish you all well.
