Staying near Mr McScáth, Scott does his best to peer into the ruined settlement trying to note anything of inherent value. Or the dwarves they’re supposed to warn about the dragon.
Mr.Dark hears the strange tapping sound and glowers as he seems to notice it over and over along the way. But....with no sense of where it's coming from, he just replies with a general sense of unease and glowering.
When they arrive at the settlement, Mr.Dark sees the broken gate and lack of noise and looks immediately for some cover. He moves behind a rock or something, his hand crossbow quickly pulled off its hitch on his belt and smoothly loaded with a bolt. He scans the edges of the canyon around them with a sour face.
In a hushed voice he says, "Hey, fella's, we can go knockin on the front door if we wish. It's possible that whatever happened here is done. But, if you would all be so inclined, i'd suggest we head back, get to the top of the canyons and approach the camp with a good view and the high ground. But if your keen to walk on in, then good luck and I'll keep you covered."

"Hmph," Kaemgen grunts, surveying the scene. He surveys the walls of the canyons for a bit, trying to spot... Anything worth spotting, really. He looks up to the sky on a regular basis, in case of dragons. Finally he is trying to see if he can tell from here if the ruined settlement is newly ruined or falling to the age of time as opposed to the ravages of monsters.
"We may as well take a look," Kaemgen says. "I don't hear any shouts or screams or sounds of battle, so if something did happen here it's likely over... And if it did happen then perhaps we can help survivors, or take a look around for what happened if it's too late for that." Plus, Kaemgen thinks, there could be some loot around to be looted.

Flattery and flirtation are not beneath Hansel, and in fact tools of the trade for a cleric of Sune. But seeing Halia for the first time, there was no exaggeration in his blandishments. He positively beams with joy as Halia responds in kind, moving and speaking seductively, both with him and Auric. Hansel can't help smirking good-naturedly when Auric contemplates lingering in order to examine scrolls. Scrolls! But the others were waiting, and time was wearing on, so with just a little more coquetry, Hansel pays for the map (making up any difference from his own funds) and bids the lady adieu.
You know, this town is beginning to grow on me, Hansel says cheekily to Auric as they leave the office. To awaken love and desire in others is the daily goal for a devotee of Lady Firehair, and it is with full sincerity, without any hint of jealousy or competitiveness, that Hansel adds with a sigh: We have done the work of Sune this day.
------------------
Reaching the ruined settlement, Hansel peers inside the gate with dismay. Destruction and decay are always a tragedy, even for something as small as this hamlet, and he too ponders how and when this might have occurred. He also looks around for any signs of archaeological activities, wondering if they take place here in the open or elsewhere, perhaps in caves to which the dwarves might flee in times of danger.
OOC: Hansel is happy to enter with Kaemgen and Scott as Mr Dark covers them.
OOC: Does anyone else hear the tapping, or just Mr Dark?

(E1)The canyon entrance floor is strewn with rubble and bereft of vegetation except for a few tough, scraggly weeds. Marblebeard peering ahead confirms that there are no immediate threats, but the dwarve's don't appear to be in the next area either. As you strain your ears, further beyond the ruined settlement you may have heard the tumble of a rock.
Kaemgen, keeping an eye on the sky, there are no shadows looming over you or passing by.
(E2)All knowledge of this settlement, including its name, vanished along with its original inhabitants, who were killed by an avalanche. The rubble that once buried the settlement has been hauled away, leaving the outlines of stone buildings visible as collapsed walls. A stone well on the far side of the ruins is filled with rubble.
Dwarven Excavation Moving from E1-E2
Investigation of E2: The settlement has been thoroughly ransacked. Anyone who searches the ruins finds a few crushed dwarf bones and signs of recent campfires, but nothing of value.
"Looks like nobody is home," Kaemgen says with forced cheer. "But looks like someone was definitely here before us..."
Exploring cautiously Kaemgen checks through the rubble and peeks into what structures do remain to confirm they are alone as much as he can. Kicking the remains of what seems a recent campfire he'll note "Whoever was here stayed a while. Perhaps there could be people here still, deeper inside?"

Scott stays within arms reach of McScáth that is until he sees the three piles of rocks and the steps leading up to something towards the east. He moves towards the wall of black stone as carefully and quietly as he can.
Scott kicks a rock as he leads the way to peer into the next area. Quiet gasps and shuffling could be heard on the other side of the wall. Taking the chance, Scott peaks around the stone for a better look.
(E3) A partially collapsed, ten-foot-high wall separates this courtyard from the settlement west of it. Three heaps of rubble are piled high in this area. Hewn from the canyon’s back wall, a thirty-foot-high temple facade features steps rising to a stone platform. Cut into this facade is a ten-foot-high open doorway flanked by crumbling, life-sized granite statues of cloaked dwarves. Evil grins can be seen on their weatherworn faces.
Marblebeard you see two scraggly bearded men peering over the easternmost rubble pile. One of them had jerky hanging from his mouth as he'd suspiciously survey the area looking in your direction. "Aye! Show yerself!"
Hearing where the action is, Mr.Dark sneaks along the ruins to the south of the canyon. When he reaches the edge of the wall, he, quietly, attempt to use the canyon wall, and the wall itself, to clamber up, just enough to ever so sneakily peer over the wall into the courtyard.
