This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Wasn't Echo supposed to have imposed disadvantage on the underling's attack that hit Shutorn?
In any case, Shutorn nods at Huarache's accusation against the underling. "That's correct," he says to his two new kobold friends. "You see how he tried to stop us from doing Tzindleor's work. Anyone who opposes us is a traitor to Tzindelor." And with that he targets the sorcerer with chill touch, hoping to finish him off.

Huarache will shoot at the sorcerer, twice if need be, then blow the smoke off his blunderbuss and say, "Let that be a lesson to those who would consider betraying Tzindelor."
The shutter is shot down by the first <and only> blast from Huarache's blunderbuss.
A terrifying roar of a yawn rumbles from the cavern below, followed by sleepy, irritated words in Draconic: ”Ned! Keep it down!"
A slight voice calls back from across the shaft, ”S-s-s-sorry, your terrifying-ness." You infer this to be the voice of the inventor the owl spotted earlier, who seems to have a reputation for explosions.
Pause combat.
You have three kobolds charmed by Shutorn. There are two more, known to be alert, across the other side. Forget about any other kobolds that might be here, they're staying out of it.
Anyone can act. If combat resumes we'll pick up with the same initiative as before.
Shutorn says to the friendly kobolds, "I appreciate you services my friends. Now lead the way to the surface and announce to any we encounter that we're on official business of Tzindelor and to let us pass. Any who resist are clearly traitors and need to be dealt with accordingly."
The kobolds happily March alongside you passing the den with the inventor and his underling.. Of course they hear the chair of a party of 8, the if whom are not trying to be especially inconspicuous in there own home.
”Gah! What are you all doing with these hairies?” Ned blurts out.
"Hey!" The DragonShield replies, "Nobody talks about our pal like that. What your problem, anyway?"
{This whole conversation takes place in common}
"Your pal?! Who are these people anyway? Where did they even come from?"
There is a pause as the charged consider the question...
Leann looks to the underling... "You wish to sit down and draw out a masterwork invention right now." She holds his gaze until the spell takes affect, then, as he takes a seat and starts drawing, she would gesture the others forward, ready to get out of these mines.
50ft below the ridge you can see a minecart directly in front of you in a siding just past an opening in the wall, from which the glow of firelight can be seen. Further up and around the curve, on the opposite side of the shaft, there are two more openings.
I'm just going to go ahead and assume you're using a familiar scout and use your stealth roll from before, so here's what he sees:
First cavern: Two kobolds stand guard near some old crates.
Second cavern: Seven small reptilian humanoids guard this room, the walls of which have niches carved into them. Each niche is lined with moss and holds a brown egg the size of a small orange.
Third cavern: The entire area from the bottom of the steps to the backs of the chambers is scorched and black. A dozen or more (it's difficult to sort them out) charred skeletons litter the chambers. One dwarf skeleton is more recent than the others and not charred; it lies near the base of the steps, in a face-down, head-down position that implies the dwarf died while scrambling down the steps.
If you want to get past the last Kobolds by stealth, guile or other means, let me know, otherwise they won't just take the other kobolds word for it that you're friendly to Tinder's interests. What do you do?
What time of day is it out of the mine? Is it day or night? How much cover from the sun?
Lighting at this level is dim, mostly from the fires in the side tunnels. The setting sun casts light on the Eastern part of the central shaft, where you will walk first if you follow the tracks, lighting both the first and second openings.
Leann strikes the scale sorcerer, delivering a crushing blow that leaves the kobold mage shaken, but now certain that the party is not friendly.
Back to the top of the order. Shutorn is up.

Attack: 25 Damage: 4
Nah, it's at range. Steel defender had to be within 5ft of the attacker.
Huarache is up.
Ah, okay. I didn’t know what the mechanics involved were.
Huarache will shoot at the sorcerer, twice if need be, then blow the smoke off his blunderbuss and say, "Let that be a lesson to those who would consider betraying Tzindelor."
Attack: 28 Damage: 27
Attack: 14 Damage: 15
Shonisaurus, Artificer Enthusiast
Well, I hope the first shot does it, because the second shot would jam the gun if he fires it.

Dorian will let Shutorn take the lead, since he's the one doing the charming, but he'll help back up whatever yarn Shutorn weaves.

<Anyone can jump in here.>
Shutorn casts a 2nd-level charm person on the inventor and his underling and (if successful) says, "What're you guys talking about? It's me, Shutorn!"
Leann will cast suggestion on any that are not yet charmed or who seem not to be ready to go along with this. DC to save is 15.
Charm person resist
Inventor 11
Underling 5
Suggestion resist (only cast if one kobold succeed above)
Inventor 15
Underling 12
The inventor is charmed, the underling is subject to suggestion.
Leann, what do you suggest he do?
Leann looks to the underling... "You wish to sit down and draw out a masterwork invention right now." She holds his gaze until the spell takes affect, then, as he takes a seat and starts drawing, she would gesture the others forward, ready to get out of these mines.
The inventor feels I spired and starts devising an ingenious new trap over at his workbench/big rock.
You all march your little parade of kobolds up to the surface level, following the mine carts tracks.
