Ah, excellent. Huarache runs towards the elder who tried to Command him as he brings down the warhammer. "You think I'm some dog with a stick? This stick'll sear what's left of your face!"
Omiy* is disintegrated by the hit from the elder monk, the necrotic energy emanates from the center of the half-translucent echo of her in a wheel-spoke pattern of dark, sickly cracks and extension as the echo is shattered. As West Wind finally falls the ground, a clanking sound as his sword drops, Omiy turns around and sees the other monk flanking her is dropped by Hondo. "Thanks," she says, catching her breath and gives him a brief smile.
She looks up on top of the mezzanine, catching sight of the bone devil, with distractions more or less eliminated, she manifests a new echo and moves it onto of the mezzanine (10,17), right in front of the Grand Master and is able to strike at him -
Omiy picks up the long sword, noting the bronze snakes coiled around the hilt. Her projected Echo slashes at the bone devil, but his bony forearms parry the blows. "Dispatch this nuisance!" he ordersthe monk to Omiy*'s left in an oddly gutteral hiss.
Shutorn reaps healing life energy from the exploded monk as it falls dead at his feet and commands Silhouette (his owl familiar) to fly over and harry one of the monks still standing near Huarache. He then targets the monk with chill touch (rolling with advantage). Attack: 26 Damage: 4
Edit: I misread that. The monk without the sword falls.
[last call before i bot characters. not double checking this minute, but i think Hondo and maybe Sigurd are still up I plan to post next round enemy actions soon. Fortunately, the aren't many enemies left to roll actions for.]
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sigurd attacks the Grand Master's stinger again, the effets of the poison coursing through his body make his movements less graceful, but his determination keeps him going. Con save: 9 (rolling DA in case of fail (DC14) 28 for 11 DA: 30 for 9
26 for 10 DA: 14 for 8
The bone devil moves his stinger around the fighter and stings jabs at the lizardman by the throne: 21 for 12 + 5d6 poison damage, DC 14 Con save or poisoned
The Grand Master returns his claws to his body, slashing at Omiy's echo and Leann. Claw1 x Omiy* - 20 for 11 Claw2 x Leann - 20 for 5
The last monk swings East Wind's sword at Huarache once again. 5
>>I feel like attacks of opportunity are a real hinderance to variety in this game. Most of the reason enemies attack the same character over and over again is that they will, in all likelihood, die without making an attack if they move 5ft away from the one they attacked first. Obviously, there's disengage, but its rarely the best choice for them.<<
Huarache raises the rod of his Duskcrusher to parry the monk's blow before dealing damage of his own, choosing to knock the monk out if damage would reduce the monk to zero.
Omiy puts West Wind's long sword away, while the hit from the monk misses her, she turns around and retaliates, slashing down at them.
Attack: 21 Damage:15 Attack: 17 Damage:13
Mean while Omiy*, standing up on the mezzanine is able to maintain her form, despite the strike from Grand Master's claw, and follows up with two swings against the bone devil using Unleash Incarnation.
Attack: 15 Damage:17 Attack: 28 Damage:18
EDIT: if Omiy drops the monk with one hit then the other one goes to the Grand Master sa well.
The Grand Master returns his claws to his body, slashing at Omiy's echo and Leann. Claw1 x Omiy* - 13 for 11 Claw2 x Leann - 16 for 7
I don't know if this qualifies for sentinel - when a creature within your reach makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn't have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature. If it does, then Omiy* makes a attack against claw 2 here (?):
Leann continues moving towards the grand master. Are there any more monks in her path? Or, since the grand master seems to be attacking her, is she next to him already?
Leann was 10ft from the bone devil, the interposing monk by his side now fallen. The bone devil has 10ft reach, but the Grand Masters teleportation rings mean his claws and stinger can move independent of his bulk. I am running them as effectively independent creatures so they take up space and have hp. Consistent with this, Leann is in range for a melee atttack against a claw, specifically. If it were to die she could attack the other claw or the mass viscera of the monster.
Sorry for the long-winded explanation, I just want to be transparent about the mechanics of the encounter.
Actual spoiler, but barely. (More omniscient narration really, plus my own stream of consciousness DM's commentary.)
The Grand Master is a coward and has been hiding on the mezzanine because players instantly bypassed his bodyguards (for a greater challenge i could have set them so one or both got aoo in such a case, but honestly i didnt think of it in time. I wasnt even planning on making a map at all. Anyway, he really wants to go back to his throne ... For reasons. He's just been trying to get Sam out of the way, but now with his followers gone and Leann closing in, he has to decide if he should go for it or make his last stand on the balcony.
The only space on the narrow balcony thst the GM isn't tsking up is occupied by Omiy's exho, but to keep the game moving Icll still apply the hit directly ro the bone devils's body, as Leann moves through Omiy*s square attacks and goes bwck to her starting position. This does not draw any aoo.
That monk had exactly 33 hp. Nailed it.
