ooc: I do think it's stereotypical that her skill check is for performance, but it's already hard enough to keep track of names without swapping them around.
ooc: I feel like I can say that I support Omiy's idea of unplugging the problematic brain. Other creative solutions could certainly work, but its not for me to create them. The module authors don't seem to give much value to the brains as persons by my reading of the module, and I don't intend to change that, so don't read too much into the fact that they protested when one talked about getting up and walking away - that was more me indicating to you that his removal would have consequences for you.
We're going to be stuck in here if we don't deactivate Corliss's barrier. Plus, Corliss is so annoying, maybe the other brains will be grateful that he finally shuts up.
Can Omiy do an insight check on the other brains see how they feel about Corliss?
All the other brains breathing this conversation do nothing to object. Alton and Broderick won't outlying defy you. You're the only chance they have of getting out of here. Dunstan calculates that the removal of Corliss from the raisin vastly oversees the is that he will be the one the adventurers free from this prison of the mind (ooc: sorry, I couldn't resist). Only Editha comments on the suggestion: "Finally, shine drama!"
"Hey. Wait just a minute there. What are you doing? I thought you were a paladin of To..." The brain protests as it is unplugged from the system.
Anyone who wants to look at the brain can make a medicine check if you choose. The force field surrounding the building emitted a soft hum, barely noticeable when active, but in the silence following Corliss' disconnection the absence of the quiet droning is apparent as it too cuts off.
There is nothing g stopping you from leaving the building. Outside you can easily spot the dusty platforms that remain floating above the pit. (1,4,5 and 6 are missing)
As you emerge from the control room, to the East you see the sky beginning to lighten from night's inky black to the deep blue of predawn. From the edge of the rocky ground, there is a 15ft gap to the first disk, a 15ft gap to the next disk, a 5ft gap to the 3rd disk, 15ft to the 4th and final disk, followed by a 29ft gap to the far end where the treasury stands.
The disks are 3ft in diameter, 1 inch thick and in all other ways equal to the effect of Tenser's floating disk.
*Feel free to do anything else besides attempting to cross, I'm just pointing out that this is here.
"So, back to the portal?" Leann asks the others as the brain is disconnected. We obviously cannot reach the treasury now, not with several of the platforms disabled. So I think the only way we can truly aid these brains is to see if we can find the inventor himself, and get him back here to do what he should have done to start with." She glances to the others. "Thoughts?" She does turn to the disabled brain though. "I am a paladin of Torm, and you were working against justice and goodness, keeping those prisoner here who wished to aid you. You were a foolish foolish brain thing." She grimaces, but seems content with the decision.
“Yes, well, let’s take him with us.” Omiy says, as she takes down the jar with Corliss’s brain it and hands it to Huarache.
She looks out the cliff, squinting her eyes to count the floating disks in the air. “We are already here. I can hop over to the other side using my echo, and we can make a rope bridge sort of thing. Or I can just go check it out and report back what in there.”
“Or,” she suggests with an raised eyebrow, “since we already disconnected Corliss, maybe Huarache can figure out a way to hack his account and reactivate the disks.”

This is not impossible. To attempt it, anyone can make an investigation check.
Anyone with proficiency in investigation can use the Help action, if desired.
you could try crossing the void or explore the monastery or check out the portal or bring the brain you unplugged back to the Sphinx. You have several options. Did you guys let the monk with the reattached face go or are you bringing him with you or what?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sorry for not responding; I live in Texas, which I hope is sufficient explanation. (I'm fine right now; I'm in the rolling blackouts, so that means that power infrastructure for me isn't screwed.) I will investigate (roll of 11) Corliss's brain.
Through investigation and consultation with the remaining brains and with the aid of the journal you picked up back in Daoine Gloine, you surmise that you can override the controls, but Kwalish has not made it easy. As a security measure to prevent such interference, it seems that the system requires a signal specific to the devices Kwalish himself designed. Based on notes and conversations, you strongly suspect that the encoded signal is not unique, but based on a rolling cipher shared by all of Kwalish's contraptions, which is to say that any device of Kwalish, (plus a modest skill check) could allow you to override the device.
"Surely that gnome left dozens of half finished devices behind when he fled the monastery." Editha notes. "It shouldn't be too hard to find one."
(We did find a lot of small trinkets when we searched the Grand Hall. Huarache took the duster I believe. They were probably made by Kwalish, and we can use it to decipher the code.)
Omiy can use her echo to get to the 4th platform without incident. The last gap to the tiny floating island on which sits the treasury is 29ft wide - twice the distance her trick works. You can see the ground literally thousands of feet below you.
Ooc: please be creative. I am OK with killing PCs, but in the name of encouraging exploration, I am explicitly stating that no PCs are in imminent threat of death by stupidity. Rulings here are extremely relaxed for creative solutions. To everyone: Please, be creative.

A note, her echo can move 30 feet away from her.
And:
As a bonus action, you can teleport, magically swapping places with your echo at a cost of 15 feet of your movement, regardless of the distance between the two of you.

Omiy's unplugging Corliss.
Do you mean in the future, or right now? I think we'll lose the other brains' support if we do that now.

"Seems like we have little choice then." Leann says with a sigh. She nods for her companion to continue, unhooking the brain that is against them.

Waiting for @Huarache to possibly investigate.
While he does that, Omiy’s going to hop across to the other side using her echo and check out the treasury.
(I don’t know where the monk is, I think we left him behind when we went to the brains.)
