"We're the mercenaries recruited by Boss Thesseler, and.."- Gravity examines the drawings on the entrance depicting Moloch, then decides to make up an excuse: "Animal sacrifice, you see? And these gentlemen here are the handlers. Ah.. that's a fine weapon. A bow. I have something that will enhance it's power. Let me show you something unique and fancy."
Gravity will pull out a pair of glowing blue gems and show them the magical items.
The first guard' s tongue slithers out as his eyes fix in the blue gems. "Just put the fleeing in the pen with the others." The second replies, clutching his bow and arrow, carry not about to give it to the first stranger who passes by, ehich you may, it us clear as the guards stand aside to allow you entry.
<the pens are near the ettin, ("the domogorgon")'s office>
(I was waiting for Legion to post the reaction of Sam since Gravity just offered the newly adopted calf as a sacrifice. Is there really an animal pen inside the temple?)
Gravity will ignore the proposal for entering the dungeon immediately and ask for the possible location of a place where the party can rest.

<Thesselar's whole thing is grafting animals together. He created the owlbear. The experimental animals (the owls and bears) are kept in a corridor of cages in the northeast. Separately, and apparently used as a food source / payment for the ettin, there are several pens around "the demogorgon's" office in the southern part of the temple complex. Somewhat strangely, the experimental animals are in the 'temple' half and the livesr9xl is in the 'laboratory' section, but these seem like oretty loose labels, since the lab side also houses the high priest's chambers and private Shrine thingy. The catoblepas seems like it could fit either one, really. It was your auggested use case that had me choose the pens.>
"Don't worry about the little guy, Sam. I won't leave him alone and try to protect the calf from direct harm"- Gravity will squeeze the shoulder of her druid companion and pat him on the back in order to assure him that she's not serious about the issue. Then she will saunter away from the entrance and check out the interior of the multi-purpose structure.
You find, as you descend the stairs, the familiar foyer. The floor is mostly cleared of rubble but still bears the marks if the battles fought there in recent days.
<you've seen this place before, but here again is the description. The kast tume the oarty was here, it was in a conflict with Thesselar and the Thesselhydra>
[Stairs from the surface lead down to this damp vaulted chamber. The floor is strewn with bones and rubble. The ceiling is supported by arches meeting at the twenty-foot-high domed peak, and is obscured by thick webs. Corridors lead off to the east, south, and west, with the west ending at a heavy oak door with bronze fittings. ]
(Are we currently located inside the chamber labeled with the number '1'?)
Gravity will examine the heavy oak door with bronze fitting situated at the westernmost side of the damp vaulted chamber to see if it's locked or trapped. She'll put her ear against the surface of the door and rub the palm of her hand to inspect the material for figuring out any kind of peculiarities.
Through the door, Gravity hears rushing water. (Those familiar with this place would know that there is an underground river. A skeleton holding a key was found d in the water in chamber 2.)
Edit: the door was not previously trapped, but the subterranean river does course with a driving wind, felt in this chamber when the door opens.
You guys planning on moving any farther? That river is largely unexplored, but probably leads to the big lake deep under the temple where you killed the thesselkraken
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Oh! I can hear the sound of rushing water and strong wind... it must be the sewerage system of the temple."
Gravity declares the result of her examination while rummaging through her backpack to extract a crowbar. She will use it to pry the door open and apply pressure in such a way that it will let her take advantage of its leverage.
It's just a door, but as soon as she loosens it, Gravity is blown back by the gusting wind carried along by the subterranean river. The door flings wide open.
This natural cavern provides fresh water for the temple from the cold and fast-flowing stream along its western edge. The stream enters from the north along a tunnel, and exits to the south in the same manner. A cold wind blows from the south tunnel, generated above the subterranean lake the stream flows into (accessed via area 30 or area 39).
Numerous barrels, casks, and buckets are stored here, all used to collect fresh water.
Pool
The stream forms a small pool 7 feet deep at its center, which is home to numerous small, white blindfish and crayfish. An unusual mineral formation occupies the bottom of the pool. With a successful DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check, a character identifies the formation as a limed-over skeleton.
Tunnels
The tunnel to the north has no air space within it, and leads back to the underground spring that is the stream’s source. The tunnel to the south is higher, leaving an ample air space along which the brisk wind is channeled. Characters can make an arduous journey along the south tunnel to the underground lake
<you know that #30 on the map is a flight if stairs thst leads to the lake at the end of the river. There is a waterfall, but you might be okay with that. You also knoe that #39 leads to an area near "the demogorgon's" office.>
(Sorry been off this game, tetrevess is following along, disguised with disguise self. He cast telepathic bond on the group to aid with communication as a ritual..
<excited about this nexr bit, but anticipate a slight delay. I acrually have to male hus part as it is not actually in the module. I do this somwtimes, but i wanted to do somwrhimg slightly different this time. >
(@Wile_E_Coyote, take your time and don't worry about the delayed pace, please. I've never played in this setting before, so everything will be unexpected.)
I'm using the fog tool. The dungeon map is made with DonJon. I never really made a dungeon map before, just battle maps, so let's see how this goes. Donjon populates it with monsters and traps and such, but I'm not using any of that, I've already got things to put in it, just needed to make a map with some rooms.
The way north is flooded, per the module - it is known to go to the surface. (You could have come in this way.) from here you can go south or West. the water is deep, but there is a narrow silt shore on either side of the water in this area, other areas may vary.
So, pick a direction and let me know if your walking (single file) or swimming
