Hearing all the comments, the angry man says “We don’t have time to get revenge right now. We have a contract with the Doge of Tralbibo to provide him with five wagonloads of grain” the man says as he pulls out a piece of paper.
“There is a big famine occurring in the Ravestina Valley. They’re desperate. We’ll get paid 250 gp per wagon load. The first load is due at Springholde by Vaxday. We need to leave tomorrow morning to get there in time.
Bandits, kobolds, and goblins are always an issue passing through the foothills of the Torgrahns But, they generally don’t attack parties of 6 or 7 people, particularly if they are armed. With a guard, it is easy money. But, with only two people, we’ll be lucky to make it to the Kardagen Border in one piece.”
As he says this, he begins counting everyone in the room. “Six of you. We can pay you 20 gp per wagon load that we deliver. For this trip, we can only afford to give you a 1 gp advance.” As he makes this statement, the man turns and gives his partner a dirty look. “But, we can pay for a private room for the group.”
“Maybe after we get back from the first delivery, you can help us collect our debt, if you’re interested.”
"If this grain means people won't starve, I will gladly aid you. Lukas Greypeak, reporting for duty!" he speaks, smiling at the fact that he can start his career by doing something right. that, and he can see how things are in Tralbibo.
Quin pushes back from his table and Saunders over to the two men. Extending a hand he introduces himself.
"Quin's the name. I've ran scout for a couple of Winterjumper's caravans so you don't have to tell me what a scumbag he can be", Quin lies. "If this will cause him grief I'd be willing to scout for you. That is if what you said about money and the room is true. "
The angry man looks up with a relieved smile as Lukas and Quin offer to serve as guards. " I'm Budeim Dhuhrun, and my colleague is Tin, Tinrea Fazote. Here is a gold piece for each of you. Tin, why don't you go take care of the room for these good men." Turner back to Quin he says "I'm sorry to hear you've had trouble with Winterjumper. He'd steal the last copper piece from his own sister if he could."
As Tin comes back with the key to a room, Budeim looks around and asks "Any of you other men looking for work?"
Moshet stands, moves from behind the table he sits at, and offers the last portion of his meal to the fire. He pauses for a moment while silently moving his lips, then turns to face Budeim.
"Master Dhuhrn, I am Moshet Tanubis of the Musur, priest of Anpu (using Thaumaturgy to create ominous whispers as I say) who is Emissary of the Dead. I have been sent... well... I mean I offer my services. Uh, if you will have me.
The half-elf by the fire stands as says, “BalMor is the name, Quiller BalMor and I am up for a bit more coin. A portion of vengeance later would not be amiss, served cold o’course. Likes the taste o’ that I do.” In the fires light his eyes take on a rather disturbing glow, his slight smile is somewhat grim.

Lukas turns to the gnome: "I'm not sure, but even if i don't use my room, keep the silver change, the stew was excellent and the cocoa from miss begwinger really warmed me up." turning to the man who had called her "Tom", he cheekily asks "So is Tom her first name, her middle name, or her nickname?"
Khoraj Rises from his seat and approaches the merchant "Good Evening sirs." he begins with his right hand over his heart. "I am Khoraj ibn Mahjid. A former Lieutenant in Lord Galbro's Light Horse. I overheard your conversation and I would like to offer you my services to aid you in your endeavor to deliver the grain to the famine struck areas."
As Moshet, Quiller, Maximillian, and Khoraj all offer their services, Budeim thanks them and hands them each a gold piece. After all of agreed to participate in the transport, Budeim whispers something to Tinrea who gets up and goes over to the gnome. Chane soon returns with a round of drinks for everyone in the tavern. “Here is to a profitable business relationship” Budeim says, raising his mug of ale in a toast. "We’ll get an early start tomorrow, but, the storm should have cleared out by morn’. This time of year, the storms rarely last all night.”
OOC feel free to continue interacting with each other in the inn. When you head up to the rooms, you find that Budeim has procured a room with four beds in it. It is still better than the common room, which doesn’t contain any beds, only straw mats on the floor and may house up to 16 individuals. The room Lukas paid for contains two beds, while Khoraj has the nicest room. Only one bed, but, a queen size bed, a desk, and a private area for bathing.
Quin snatches up the coin in a flash. "Much appreciated! Oh, and uh...dibs on the bed if there is one! " he says with a nod of his head and an arch of his brow. Quickly he spins down and scoops up his gear. A couple of swift steps puts him waiting at the base of the stairs. "After you Mr. Tin. "
"To the success of this venture." Lukas returns the toast, drinks it empty, and puts the empty cup on the bar. he turns to the others, "feel free to use the room paid by our employers, i have already procured a private room for myself. may I get to know who I am working with before I retire for the night? the best comrades are ones you know, after all."
"May the deeds of our travels make our hearts lighter than a feather," and Moshet drains his mug. He heads to the bar for a refill, leaves the gold coin he was paid for the food, drink, and a small cheap bottle of liquor, and returns to the group by the one who was playing the lute.
"Sir, you mentioned 'performing on the road,' and I wondered if you would like some accompaniment? I have played the dulcimer from time to time, mostly the hymns of my faith, but I've learned bits and pieces of some formal Kardagen dances and a few lively numbers from the mountain settlements aroundKoplov."
"Were you playing one of the ballads from the river valley near Saderil, mister.... uh...?"
And may our children speak of our deeds, says Maximilian and then continues: Maximilian Mayward is my name. Great to make your aquaintace! No those were not the ballads of saderil, im afraid. I dont quite like their sad tone and i like to brighten the tune of them as in my opinion it better suits the context of the story. What i was playing is my personal take on the rebellion of Halveryn to which i think the sad tones of the saderil ballads fit much nicer.
When offered the gold coin Khoraj shakes his head. "No need sir. This mission is a bit personal for me. I have family,an uncle and several cousins who live in the valley. My only reward is to see the grain delivered to the folk in need there".
“Maximillian it is then, sir. I would enjoy learning a new tempo or chord progression.” Moshet quickly lifts his cup again, but hesitates mid-drink, stops, and sets the cup down.
Turning his back on the table, he turns to Lukas “I am a priest of Anpu from beyond Blokendrohl woods; traveling to see the world and ease the suffering of the dying. But to know me better...Moshet absently reaches for the cup and takes a sip and smiles. “Anpu says, to read a book in a single night is to spoil the morning.”
I honestly doubt that i could teach you. I have no experience with the dulcimer. But it sure would be a pleasure to play with you sometime. Do you have your instrument handy?
“Yes , I have a small table-top sized hammer dulcimer here in my... well, maybe in this pouch...” Moshet goes into his back pack and rummages around, muttering to himself.
Turning back to Maximillian, “I must have left it in the last town; thats what happened. I’ll just have to get another and we can play then.”
