Rurik was going to continue his sermon when they came upon the closed store. "What's this? Who leaves a store with so much valuable inventory in plain view and goes away? 'Old world relics', eh?"
Mafalda perks up. "Someone said 'old world relics'? Do they have their hours posted, or are they closed-closed?"
Turning to the storefront and seeing the posted sign, she attempts to look through the windows at the shop's interior. Is it stocked and clean, as though maintained by an assistant, or is it empty and dusty?

"Wonder if the locals know anything about the shop."

She looks about for any small animals in the area she may be able to use Speak with Small Beasts on
Trilin sees Mafalda turn to something and steps around the from hedge and gazes in that direction. "Let's go check it out. Or did you want to ask the locals when we get back?"
Trilin heads over to the closest little creature (either raven or rat) cautiously and seems to be trying to talk to it in strange little noises.
She's trying to determine from the small beasts if this is an old sign and if they can give me an idea of who runs the shop (human, dwarf, etc and anything else about them a small creature might be able communicate.
(Speak with Small Beasts - Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts.
I will attempt to gather further information and compare height to another in the party - which he is as tall as? And I will also see how many times the moon rises in a talon?
Chrerc tilts his head in slight puzzlement, observing the gnome cawing and croaking at a raven. "Tree speaks to birds?" he asks in his high-pitched voice. "Do birds have much worth discussing?" He looks down lost in thought. "Hmm... perhaps this one could build a metallic bird that could serve as a messenger..."
His steel defender gives a metallic snort that somehow sounds dismissive.
This definitely gets her attention as she's already admired the Boar. "You can MAKE these marvelous things?? I'd love to see if you can make a Raven! I have a natural skill with animals and can speak with the small ones easily, only its limited to their intelligence so I'm trying to determine what he means by 'a talon'. He said that its been a Talon since the sign was posted and of course the owner is taller than me" (Unless I was able to decipher more above ooc)

@Jynne:
You realize that a "talon" is 4 days. Also, all you get about height is that the owner was taller than you, but shorter than Rurik.

Tree looks up to the others after conversing with the bird and shares what she's found. "Its been about 4 days since the sign went up and the owner is shorter than Rurik and taller than me. So I'd think they could be back any time or possibly forgot to take the sign down?"
Rurik pursed his lips for a moment. "Could be one of our cousins, the hill dwarves. They're shorter than we are, but taller than you. Would make sense with all this metalwork hanging about. Could be a gnome too I guess. Does the owner have a beard?"
Tree looks back at the Raven who is hopefully still there and tries to communicate this to the Raven asking if the owner had a clean chin like my or hairy one like Rurik's
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tree looks around for the Raven and finds that it's flown away. She approaches the door with a glance around for anything that looks like it could harm her, then reaches for the the door latch and tries it to see if it's locked.

"This one has created many such creatures. Including this one's friend, Steeltusk," here the kobold tapped his steel defender on the head, who gave a soft chuffing sound. But by then the gnome had already turned away.
"Its a marvelous beast! Do you have to have your talents to command it or can someone commission you to make one?" She asks of Chrerc as she's trying the door. (ooc he's probably a little distance from her so she may be speaking a little louder than usual unless he's followed her to the door).
If you take a moment to look in the window, you see many different weapons, including Old Civilisation firearms, and even, in the back, a single cannon.
