Yes, you heard me right, my friends. It's D&D. Not only is it D&D, but it's D&D in space. Space D&D, that's correct. What's so special about space D&D? Well, you see, it's D&D, yeah? But it's in SPACE.
Not recruiting yet, this is just a quick little interest check to see if anyone would be interested in playing some space D&D. The setting and rules would be from Dark Matter, by Mage Hand Press, a super great rule/worldbook full of a bunch of character options and lore and all that jazz. The basic idea of the setting is that magic has advanced so much that it more or less emulates super advanced technology. Blasters are just evocation wands, the web is just a scrying enchantment, etc.
So, who's interested?

I'll maybe wait for a day or so, if there's not a bigger turnout than this then I might not do it.
You can't judge response from less than a day input.
But, I'm in. Activate the hyperdrive!
True, but my interest checks tend to get more interest than this immediately, and things only decrease from there. However, I can pretend like I'm responding to people while I'm really just bumping the thread to get more people to see it.
How would stats be determined/any content which isn't allowed/would need to be tweaked? I am interested but I'd like to know a bit more about the character creation.
I’ve joined games looking to do Dark Matter... twice.
Both fizzled out. Largely because there’s a buttload to homebrew just to keep character sheets making sense, much less the equipment functions.
If you’ve homebrewed up the class and equipment content so that this isn’t a problem, I’d absolutely be down. Otherwise, it’s just not worth the headache of trying to get it all functioning on a website vs a physical sheet.

Character stuff will be addressed in the recruitment post

And that’s why I’ll not be using d&dbeyond for sheets, because like you said, it’ll be awful, and I’m sure somebody will want to play a gadgeteer(new class). I’ve got a lovely form fillable sheet that I can share with whoever I recruit to fill out.

Space D&D sounds fun. I am interested.
I looked at the press kit and the amoeboid leapt out at me. Super-cute!
Dralasites were my fave species in Star Frontiers.

This sounds really interesting! Would it still be the same class options just realigned, or are there others available?
There are... a lot. A bunch of new races, a new class and a bunch of subclasses, etc. It’s lovely stuff.

Sounds cool. How will "in space" work though? Does it mean we travel between planets, are on some kind of spaceship, literally floating in space...

There won’t be much in the way of interstellar travel in the adventure I’ll be doing, but the campaign setting allows for it, and so much more!

I'm interested. Is UA allowed? I wanna be the old version of artificer.
Then I’m in

Fair enough I suppose, pending the character creation parameters I am interested as well.
I don't know much about Dark Matter by Mage Hand Press as I am a relatively new player but I am very interested in this!!
