This play by post works a little differently than most. I mostly covered in the recruitment thread, but I'll cover it here as well.
There is a large amount of PCs, and because it is always recruiting more can always join. You will all start in the town of Dolsela, where you can role play, buy equipment, form into adventuring groups, or other pre-adventure preparations. This can all be done on this thread.
Then, you can go adventuring with your group you formed or just by yourself, into the Forest of Wonders. When you do this, create a new thread in the player by post section with the private tag, for you and your party to use in the adventure. Then, you role on the tables to generate an adventure (see below). You complete the adventure with your party, using the normal rules for the dungeons and dragons 5e and the tables to guide your adventure. After which you find you way back to town where you can heal up, role play, and basically go back to the beginning of the cycle.
This is done entirely with no DM, though I may pop in from time to time to make sure it's running smoothly.
Dolsela:
You all start in the town of Dolsela. It's either a large town or a small city in size, home to about 4,000 people who live in the town, plus an addition 1 or 2 thousand people who come temporarily either to seek adventure or to sell goods to adventurers. Dolsela is more of a tourist, or adventuring in this case, town than anything else. It has a variety of shops selling equipment, magical items, and weaponry; many guides who use their experience to guide newer adventurers, for a cost of course; and an impressively opulent tavern used by nearly all the adventurers who pass through. Dolsela also has a few factions who deal secretly, though the politics of Dolsela are minor and under the surface.
Shops:
Dolsela has a wide variety of shops for adventuring supplies, weaponry, and normal wares such as clothes and food. To buy anything for sale in Dolsela, simply post describing your character going shopping and what your are buying. Then simply deduct the appropriate amount of money from your character sheet and add the item. Honor system will be used here, please don't cheat and add something you didn't buy to your character sheet.
When shopping in Dolsela, assume you can find any mundane items that cost 1,000 gp or less, which can all be bought at the price given in the equipment section of the PHB. If you wish to buy something that costs between 1,001 and 5,000 gp, roll a d20. On a roll of 6 - the number of thousands the item costs, you are able to find the item and it can be bought at normal price. Otherwise, you cannot find it for sale. If you have a failed role, you cannot role again until you finish an adventure in the forest of wonders.
If you wish to shop for magic items, roll three times on the below table (a modified version of magic item table B from the DMG) to generate a stock of magic items. Consumables have a stock of 1d4+1 items. Then you can buy them for a price as calculated by this handy website: https://www.kassoon.com/dnd/5e/magic-item-prices/ (it's also in the XGtE I believe)
The Hero's Haven tavern lies at the center of the town. It provides rooms for a sp a night, and meals for 5 cps. It has a tap room spreading 100 feet across, providing plenty of room for talking, eating, preforming, and more. All people all welcome in the tavern, and while weapons are allowed in it tavern brawls are discouraged by a pair of experienced looking dragonborn veterans. It is a great place to discuss or form into adventuring groups.
Other Town Features:
Dolsela has many other features. It hosts a large observatory, which can be used for a fee of 10 gp, a public library which contains many scrolls, books, tomes, and strange contraptions. Weapons are not allowed in the library. In addition, Dolsela has a shrine to most of the major deities, along with guilds for some of the major occupations such as blacksmithing or shipping.
Finally, Dolsela hosts an annual tourney of many skills, including art, marksmanship, duels (not to the death though!), and mathematics. (I will create a separate thread for the tourney with more specific rules when than comes around).
Disclaimer: as of currently, tables are unfinished and may have minor issues such as problems in encounter balance and typos. In addition, the maps are not finished yet.
Marsh is sitting quietly in one corner of the tavern. He glances over at Zylna and Zatz, then looks back down at his breakfast. He pushes half of the food on his plate to one side, and eats the rest of it. A raven on his shoulder hops down and eats the food he pushed away.

I will protect those I hate. Even ... even if the one I hate most ... is ... myself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marsh finishes up his food, then stands up, surveys the room once more, and walks out. He walks down to the magic shop, and checks for anything that might help on his adventures.

I guess I should've rolled those separately. That's a 56, 54, and 31
Jeffery Noblecrag, a slightly eccentric looking human with a quaterstaff on their back and minimal other weapons or armor, enters the town. He seems exhausted after many long days of travel, but invigorated by finally finding his destination. He makes his way to the tavern, and enters as unobtrusively as possible. He orders a meal and goes to sit at an unoccupied table. He pulls out a book and a quill and begins reading occasionally making marks with the pen.
(OOC: Just realized @Tarmogoyf7, your signature is stormlight archive by Brandon Sanderson.)
Marsh inspects the various items, checks the prices, and walks back out of the shop. He goes back to the tavern, and reclaims his seat in the corner. He carefully watches both of the others eating their meals, looking over their adventurer gear and seeing if they might be worth talking to.
(OOC: I love the stormlight archive! Best book series ever. Are you a fan of the cosmere?)
Aretora enters the tavern, a finch sitting on her shoulder.

This isn't actually a signature, just something I copy and paste onto the bottom of all my posts. Or is it? Yep, it is. Or is it..? I’m a hobbit, and the master cranial imploder of the "Oops, I Accidently Destroyed Someone's Brain" cult. Extended sig. I'm actually in Limbo, it says I'm in Mechanus because that's where I get my WiFi from. Please don't tell the modrons, they're still angry from the 'Spawning Stone' fiasco. No connection to Dragonslayer8 other than knowing them in real life.
Jeffery overhears the debate between Zatz and Zylna. He seems very amused by it, and after a moment of indecision walks over. "I think the most effective way to eat food is do something else while you have the food, loose track of it, and then have it get cold" He says, barely suppressing a grin. "The name's Jeffery."
(OOC: I think the cosmere it pretty cool, though the only books I've read set in it are the main storm light archive series.)
Zatz stops in his tracks "I'm going to pretend you didn't say that about food. hot food is hot and cold food is cold. if hot food is cold you screwed up. But my name is zatz"

Zatz wakes up in the tavern after a long travel. He stretches before putting on his robes and heading downstairs to get some breakfast.
Zylna walks into the town from the woods and makes her way to the tavern, where she carefully opens the door and peeks inside.

I don't like rp-heavy games, I LOVE them.

Zatz pays for some food and waits for it to come out before taking it to a table to eat
Zylna carefully enters the tavern, looking around with a sharp eye as she makes her way to a table to order some food.

Zatz watches Zyla out the corner of his eye as he eats
When Zylna got her plate of food, she ate it as though she was starved for some actually good food.

Zylna looked at Zatz suspiciously as she stopped and swallowed her current mouthful. "I can handle eating this fast, I'm used to it."

She stared at him a bit, unblinking, before going back to her food, this time a bit slower than before.
