Urgoth's rapier stabs through the zombie's chest, igniting the creature in green flames. The fire burns the clawed creature next to it. While Sybil hacks away a piece of its flesh with her axe, the convulsing guard from before suddenly goes still. With a shriek he returns to his feet, leather gloves ripping apart as his hands form long sinister claws. He takes two swipes at Sybil's exposed side, rending a gash across her ribs.
The other creature turns its focus towards the half-orc, hurling itself towards Urgoth and attacking with two wild swings of its claws, catch his outstretched sword arm with one strike. Urgoth:8 points slashing damage.
Aiming for the undead that he can see the clearest, Usul again focuses and pulls his string taught, before reloading, though hoping that he’ll not need yet another bolt.

While Usul's bolt catches the new undead between the eyes, Kal's longsword cuts down from the shoulder in a diagonal. The creature throws its head back and screams, releasing the radiant blue light from its eye sockets and open mouth as it burns it from the inside.

Urgoth and Sybil make their strikes against the creature. While the rapier is batted away, Sybil's axe embeds itself in the undead's collarbone. For a moment it seems as if it might finally fall, but in a moment of resilience it pulls the axeblade out of its flesh and swipes at the both of them.
Weakened and slower now, it is unable to land either attack.
As Silthras moves forward he scans the ground for wounded and the other areas for signs of further attack. He also transfers the focus of his malice to the last zombie.
He makes his way to the nearest fallen ally, trying to help if possible.

(Most definitely not alive, the other guard was slain, and turned into one of the undead)
One last bolt of arcane energy streaks across the ground, striking the undead in the chest and blowing a hole through it. The dark light leaves its eyes and it falls to the ground, slain.
The remaining guard falls to the ground in a sitting position, staring wide-eyed at the transformed corpse of his friend. Sybil takes a moment to look around, giving an annoyed "ah, of course, here at last" as a two-wide line of a dozen men stream in from the west. They wear markedly better armor than the guardsmen, with a crest of two swans lifting a shield on their shoulders. Rather than spears, they carry full length halberds in one arm, carrying a wooden spike barricade between them in the other.
They quickly cross the broken in gate, moving the busted pieces and putting the barricade in place.
You can hear bells ringing in the southwest, to which Sybil says, "and there it is. The flank attack." Before anyone can leap into action, she cuts them off. "They garrison will already be there. We've come to expect these tactics now."
She looks at the slain guard, shaking her head. "A damn shame."
Usul takes a few extra breaths as things go quiet and waits with his crossbow ready, just in case it isn’t really over. Once he’s sure that it is, he stands up and walks in the road to where Fauna is and says “Well, that was exciting!”Though there is clear excitement in his voice, it’s mixed, or perhaps because of, the adrenaline still pumping through his veins. He then waits in the road, keeping distance from the new guards, as he waits for the others to head back his direction where he’ll join the convoy to walk back towards the Inn.
Silthras joins the group, nodding in approval, "Well done everyone, though it's a pity we were too late to save more." He turns to Sybil, "You mentioned burning the dead -- do you have a place for that, or should I start start a fire here?"
Kal sheaths his sword, briefly holding a glowing hand over his wounds to heal them. Glancing at Urgoth and Sybil, he asks them, "do your wounds need tending?"
He watches the soldiers work, wondering about the crest on they wore. "The Baroness' men I presume?"
"It hurt but it is not anything a bit of rest will not fix." Urgoth tells him as he sheathes his rapier, moving to look over the fallen undead. "Would it be wise to burn these incase there is a chance of the bodies rising again?"

Sybil nods at the suggestions for the bodies, "the temple will take care of that. These..." she trails off, gesturing at the bodies, "people still deserve their final rites."
"I'll be fine." She says to Kal. Following his gaze, she responds, "yes. That's them. Well trained men, just under-utilized if you ask anyone with a heart." She says stiffly, crossing her arms. "You can all return to the inn if you like, I'm going to take care of some other things."
If no one else has anything to say to her, she taps the other guard on the shoulder, gently lifting him up and pulling him to the side, speaking softly to him.
The garrison men have finished placing the barricade, and now seem to be working on setting up for the night.

Silthras will examine the undead bodies -- the zombies and the clawed undead in particular. Can he see much of note? Did the guard turn into a zombie, or one of the claswed ones?
The guard turned into a clawed one, his eyes are wide open, but milked over with a thick white gloss. There are traces of black running from the skin around his eyes, almost like webbing. Besides the transformation of his hands into long spindly claws, nothing else seems to have changed. The zombies are like the undead typical of this era - difficult to tell which humanoid species they might have been before, but from what remains of their clothing you can easily tell they're from a distant era. The clawed ones - besides the guard - have little more than rags on. A few tufts of long white hair hangs from their heads, and their skin has all but rotted and they have so little meat to them that their spinal vertebrae stick out prominently.
Silthras sighs, "A grim way to end" he says. He ponders the body a moment longer: blood stained from the wound that killed them, and still wearing the same clothes. "At least they will find a way to rest with their god tonight."
With that he turns away, walking toward the inn.
