Hello everyone- Sylfaerd is here and waiting. Greetings! Sylfaerd is a half elf in chain mail with a shield, (which is red and has a weeping eye on the front of it), you can see by his manner and outfit that he is a Paladin.
Hi there everyone - Twombley, you may remember me as Corwin from our brief interactions in City of Elvire. I will be playing a human cleric, Tempest domain. To the DM, what gods are we using in this setting? I will have my character sheet ready soon and will post the link here. Thanks for picking me for the game!
OK, here is the link to my character sheet: Greysun Crowe
And a brief description: Greysun is a strapping man who at first glance appears quite a bit older than his 22 years due to the fact that his full, wavy head of hair is completely white. Upon closer inspection, it is clear he is much younger, though his once-pale skin has been tanned by the sun. His light gray eyes flicker with energy. He wears a gray tabard bearing the image of his holy symbol over white clothes with dark gray trim. When dressed for battle or combat, he wears simple chain mail under his coat and brandishes a war hammer in his right hand and a shield in his left. He is often seen looking to the sky for portents of things to come. (Note clothing/symbol details will be adapted to the appropriate god for the setting.)
Session zeros are fun places to be :) I'll throw out some preferences for debate and consideration from my end as a player. Note that these are not demands, just opinions, and that I am willing to roll with whatever we're going to go with:
- I like flanking rules (surround an opponent, get advantage to hit it) - I like super mean criticals (when the crit die always does full damage) - I like not enacting these flanking rules or super mean crits until everyone has reached level 2, because level 1 is really hard! - I like sharing a party pot (but I think someone should be an official treasurer if you do that) - I like maps with grids and tokens on them more than theaters of the mind - I'm not a real fan of PvP or any overly descriptive graphic violence involving children (of any race) - I do swear sometimes but can rein it in if needed - If there is a comedy potshot or pun to be taken, I will probably not be able to resist taking it - I like it when tools, instruments, gaming sets, and their proficiencies are actually useful and used with actual rolls, rather than descriptive roleplay devices
I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head stuff I can think of. :)
More about Noell:
Noell is a young human woman of 20 years. Her skin is brown, as is her hair, just like her father's -- but her eyes are the same light shade of silvery blue as her mother. Her father was a logger in Daven's Falls, and her mother a hunter. A local girl, she grew up following her mother's footsteps, and her family has a good reputation within the town, with Noell herself respected as a hunter in her own right. She's boastful and tough, but also kind-hearted and devoted to her hometown. Noell does suffer from the wanderlust of the budding adventurer, and hopes that through this mission provided by the mayor, she'll be able to leave town and see a bit more of the world than she has to date.
Noell wears heavy chain armor and fights primarily at range with her longbow, though she can if pressed switch to dual wielding her shortswords in close combat. She did spend some time training with a dwarven guard, and picked up smatterings of their speech during the process. Likewise, hanging around and learning from her mother's elven ranger friends allowed her to pick up the elvish tongue as well. Noell is roughly 5'7" tall, fairly average for a human woman, and tends to be more wiry than muscular in build. She carries herself with the confidence that only youth and inexperience can bring.
- Happy to go with enhanced crits and flanking if that’s the DM’s choice.
- Maps are cool, Theatre of the mind is cool too - pros and cons for both. I normaly find a mix of the two is needed (or a lot of hard work on the Dm’s side to do just one)
- Party pot is cool and having a treasurer - but I’m not the best choice for that role lol
- Swearing/Violence I’m pretty easy with most stuff but gratuitousness is a thing
- puns - we’ll have to see who posts first :p
- tools, would be great but its more a lacking of 5e than anything.
Dm, looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
Party composition
Vahorn - Ranger - dex based (long range and two weapon) wis casting, Survival etc. Charisma black hole heals
Noell - Fighter - Archery but all round martial goodness - physical checks
Lia - monk - dex melee - stealth
Greyson - Cleric - Tanky goodness heals
Sylfaerd - Paladin - smitey goodness and face, heals
Shula - hit n run/ you can’t catch me BBiness (striker/controller) and brains
I think I got down the rough areas of expertise there. Looks like we might be lacking a bit of blasty goodness, but probably can get some from Greyson? Vahorn can focus on a bit more crowd control, pick up some druid cantrips etc. As he fills the same spot as Noell quite a bit in a more martial role.
Also, Noell and Vahorn are a good fit for knowing eachother before the campaign, as his family would be friends with her mother.
Also most important...... type colour! I chose green for obvious reasons.
- Like Killilli said, I'm completely fine with flanking and enhanced crits if the DM wants to
- I appreciate having maps if the DM is able to provide them, but I understand that they can be a lot of work and am also good with theatre of the mind
- Party pot has definitely been helpful in past games. I have experience being treasurer and would be happy to do that if y'all want
- Swearing/violence isn't a problem for me, just don't be too extreme/graphic
- Looks like you've got the party composition/strengths down pretty well! Overall seems well-rounded
- For type color, I think I'll go with red
A bit more about my character:
Lia is a twenty-one-year-old half-elf woman. She has long, ashy blonde hair, fair skin, and hazel eyes. She has the typical slightly delicate features and pointed ears that sit somewhere between elf and human, and could be mistaken for either at a glance. She's 5'5 with an athletic/toned build. She wears the robes of her monk order - a simple white chest wrap, pale yellow flared pants, and a long, sleeveless red robe. She almost always has a smile on her face, even when in combat, and is very fidgety.
Young and inexperienced as she is, Lia tends to be a bit naïve and overconfident in her own abilities. This definitely has the potential to feed off of Noell's own boldness. She is energetic and eager to prove herself, this job being her first real test. She's very optimistic and tries to see the good in everyone, sometimes against her better judgement.
Given her relatively sheltered upbringing, she probably wouldn't know any of the party members unless she met one of them on their way into Daven's Falls.
Vahorn is a 25 year old Elf with straw like hair, darkened with dirt and littered with leaves. He wears a green leather tunic and is kitted out with dual shortswords and a longbow. Locals say he knows the woods better than anyone, but his conversation and hygiene leave a lot to be desired.
Is there a campaign link to join? If so, I missed it.
This is _close_ to Sylfaerd, but not quite.
For conversations, I will be : Blue.
Sylfaerd is a 28 year old Half Elf who favors the human side of his background, but you can still see elvish features. He used to be a member of the Alliance Guard, but he is done with that and following his own moral compass now. He is a little suspicious but very friendly and charming. He wears chain mail and carries a shield and a Warhammer, and has some javelins. He opens up over a drink and his mood lightens.
I can tell you with certainty that after a few drinks he might be hitting on Lia, chatting her up.
Hey everyone. Following up, I'd say the following on the various points:
- I'm OK with whatever the DM wants to do re. flanking and crits.
- Maps are fun but a lot of work for DM, so I can go with whatever works. Very simple maps that just give us basic info on position are fine with me, as is theater of the mind.
- Party pot and Lia as treasurer sounds great.
- I'm perfectly comfortable with just about any level of swearing/violence and will tailor my own posts to the group.
- Regarding party balance/roles, the summary above looks good. Greysun has some blasting (Thunderwave at this point) that will improve with leveling.
- For color, I will take purple.
Greysun is a somewhat simple farm boy who was struck by lightning in a miraculous incident that led to him being chosen for the priesthood of the storm. He is eager to prove himself a worthy warrior-priest and is a fairly straightforward "hard charger" when it comes to dealing with problems.
Sorry, got waylaid a bit, my every two week RL campaign got moved up a week and my computer died.
Okay, I'll go over the optional rules in more detail later but for now, I will use flanking, normal criticals, and 10 minute short rests limited to 3/day.
I like maps and use basic ones in pbp where I can. I will use Theatre of the Mind when appropriate.
My intention with choosing these characters was to explore the relations between humans, the main inhabitants of the New Towns, and the Elves, rulers of Celador for a long time.
We have another player coming, he said no at first cause he thought he was in a cooler game, but that fell through so we're like his safety campaign. ;)
Okay, The Pantheon I'd like to use is the One from Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous. Basically is a multigenerational pantheon with a few non-traditional ideas. I'm gonna try to get some more info out to you, but a Tempest Clericwould most likely follow Urian, the sky god, or Shalimyr, God of the sea.

Hi DarwinCullins, good to see you again! I know Killilli who will be joining us shortly from another adventure as well.
Hello! This is Lia, a half-elf monk from the Radiant Hand. She's very excited to be going on her first official mission.
