Hrothbert looks up, a little surprises at the size of the Minotaur, And whistles "Well met Mr. Thulmar a pleasure to have you with us, I am Hrothbert, This here is Anya, Rhys, and Balasar." gesturing to each in turn and then turns back to the Speaker. "Then that makes five for this venture. Three heavy hitters, covering fire and support. Would this be a satisfactory group to send into these mines?"
"The Courageous Five of the Mines. Surely a fantastic tale that should be witness!" It was here where Kaloruk approached the group, giving his most charming smile. "Kaloruk the Bard, humbly at your service." He gives a long sweeping bow, extending his arms out to his side. "Entertainer and Storyteller! I am not a warrior but I wish to join you on this adventure so to witness your bravery and strength. To share this grand tale with the people of this icy land to warm their souls."

Long time roleplayer and artist, I enjoy the fantasy world of dragons and magic. It only makes sense I dive into Dungeons and Dragons!
Looking forward to learning the game and making new friends. :)
Hrothbert looks over at Kaloruk, gauging the tieflings stature and offer, "With all due respect my good sir, but I don't think we can have another tagging along that we would have to protect. I believe that keeping our own skins will be troublesome enough." Hrothbert Shrugs, "But I am not the leader of this group, as we are just gathering, and I feel the rest should be able to decide on their own if they want to be responsible for your protection as well as theirs."
"I, for one, welcome the bard to our little group. Six now, is it? I don't enjoy the idea of spreading the gold so thin, but the extra support could very well make the difference between life and death in our little adventure."
"I welcome the bard as well. 'The Courageous Five of the Mines' sounds like a very good tale indeed and perhaps he could bring some fun to our small quest," Anya says, excited about the idea of other people learning about their adventure. Perhaps, if things went well, it could mean more people coming forth and offering money. She turns to Kaloruk and adds, "However, I can't offer you protection. Even if you're not a warrior, do you think you could defend yourself, should things go wrong?"
"While I am certain no where near as skilled as you five when it comes to battles, I will humbly say I know a few tricks to get out of a dangerous situation. I assure you I will not be a burden or underfoot. I will even take a smaller share of the gold if that aids in convincing you. And of course, what better way to rest before a challenge then being lulled by a lyre. I can share many songs and stories from my travles."

Hrothbert, resigning himself to travelling with these people, rises and heads towards the door. “Well I guess we should be off. That is unless anyone needs to purchase something?”
"I am all set, personally. Oh! There is one thing." Rhys snaps his fingers, and a kestrel hawk appears on his shoulder. "Everyone, this is Witherspoon. Witherspoon, these are the people we will be adventuring with, at least for a short while. Say hello, won't you?"
Thulmar starts at the sudden appearance of the bird then smiles in delight “I like you wizard” He says to Rhys, then turns towards the door “I am ready to begin, I will meet you all outside”.
“Fair enough. We’ll meet up at the edge of town and proceed from there if that works for everyone.” Hrothbert continues on. “Some aerial views will be nice on the road, I look forward to traveling with you all.”
"I will join you in a moment," Balasar replied to Hrothbert, "There is something I need to do before we head out."
Once the party moves away from Speaker Masthew, Balasar will turn to the man and ask, "What relation is the missing man to you?"
Balasar:
"None. Why do you ask?"
Balasar's eyes narrowed. He was pretty sure that Speaker Masthew was holding something back about the mine. He thought it was about the man, but now he was not so sure.
"Just a hunch," Balasar commented, "I must have been wrong. I am not used to how humans speak," Balasar replied. It was a blatant lie. His entire life was spent in the company of humans. Even if they were monks, they still were humans. "Again, my apologies. If you would excuse me, I should join my newfound colleagues." Balasar nodded to Speaker Masthew as he took his leave. He debated telling the others of his suspicions, hoping that that's all they were and that Speaker Masthew was not holding back information that would get them all killed.
Ok. After everyone assembles at the edge of town, you walk the half hour to the mine, in the blizzard that has become normal in Icewind Dale.
The entrance to the gem mine is an open tunnel in a hillside. Empty carts are parked near the entrance, next to which a crude wooden sign has been propped up. Written on the sign in charcoal are the words "Kobolds only!" in Common. The handwriting is surprisingly elaborate calligraphy.
Anya looks at the entrance to the mine, both relieved that they're getting out of the blizzard and anxious about what they might find inside. "I guess this is it." Her eyes linger at the sign for a moment, before she continues, "we should be more careful from now on, and watch out for traps."
Rhys examines the handwriting closely. "Doesn't this seem a bit... elegant for the monstrous kobolds? I wonder if they have someone else working with them."
“Either someone else or it’s just s ruse to keep people away.” Hrothbert gestures to the hawk as he looks towards the entrance “Any chance that Witherspoon here can see in the dark?”

"What a charming little bird." Kaloruk chuckled. He tugs his cloak a little tighter, following the others back outside.

(Is there to be traveling time to the mine entrance or quick travel?)
(Hrothbert will be at the rear so he can react quickly and assist.)
