“Ok then, Anya, you mentioned traps you think you could find some if you went looking?” Hrothbert points to the minotaur “Guess you and I should follow after her.”
Balasar looks intently at the sign. He had met a kobold or two in his days since leaving the monastery. None of them were capable of such elegance in writing. Granted, these kobolds could be the exception to the rule, or this could be a part of what Speaker Masthew was not telling the group about.
"Speaker Masthew was withholding something to us," he finally spoke.
Hrothbert staring back to Balasar. “Withholding, in what way? If this is not a kobold extermination and rescue task what is it?”
(being from a different area would I recognize the script at all?)
"I'm not sure," Balasar replied, "I thought maybe there was some sort of familial relation between Masthew and the missing man, but he denied it." Away from the city and in the company of fellow adventurers, Balasar pushes back the hood of his robe. "I thought maybe I was just suspecting something that was not there," he continued. He taps on the ornate sign excluding all but kobolds from the mine, "This makes me think that I was not wrong about my suspicions."
OOC: I'll send you a DM about a detail about Balasar's background that is not on his sheet.
"What should we be looking for? I can see just fine in the dark. It's a nice change from the brightness of the snow, if you ask me."
“ We’re looking for anything that may be a trap or alarm the “kobolds” we’re coming, Kaloruk” Turning his attention back to Balasar “Well we best be vigilant then.”
You descend a long flight of stairs, as the ambient temperature warms as you go deeper underground. You emerge in a small cavern. Racks holding picks and hammers are nailed to the walls. The floor is covered with rock dust and tracks.
Balasar looks over the racks of picks and hammers, tools of the trade for miners. He wonders if the kobolds within have found other uses for these items.
OOC: Can I tell if any of the picks and hammers have been used as weapons, or even if they have been used recently?
"Kobolds only." Kaloruk read the sign outloud. "Think they would make an exception for us? Ha ha ha."
He then looked around curiously.
((ooc: I would like to do an investigation check. 10 ))

Anya thinks about it for a while. “I believe so. But we’ll need a light source, which will leave as a little more exposed.”
(Looking for traps will require a perception check, right?)

(Yeah, common is basically universal)
(Yeah I knew that but the calligraphy styling?)
Loyalty Begets Honour
(Yeah. It's still the same script, just fancier.)
(Alright. Shall we proceed?)
“Rhys , Anya could use some light, would those sparkles of yours work?” Hrothbert begins to ready a torch as he asks the question.

Investigation.

“Sure Rhys you light a torch, that’ll free up both my hands” Hrothbert pats Anya on the back “Ready when you are miss.”

“Let’s see how this goes,” Anya says, and enters the mines.

They're dusty, like they've just been sitting for days.
