My party will be facing down an aboleth rather soon and they will enter his lair. Once they defeated him, what are some things they might be able to find?
Magical, non-magical, just anything other than gold. (are they even interested in gold?)
So, Aboleth's don't need or care about gold, but if their lair used to be owned by a creature that hoarded gold, I don't think they'd care if it was there or not. You could use this as an excuse to give the players more gold if you want to.
So, magic items they could possibly have:
Anything
Headband of Intellect
Tome of Clear Thought
Stone of Golurr (Dragon Heist)
Wave (sentient magic item from White Plume Mountain)
Spellcaster magic items (Wands, Robes, Rods, Staffs, the like)
Cloak of the Manta Ray
Helm of Underwater Action
Cap of Water Breathing
Mariner's Armor
These are just a few options

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Mainly items for the aboleth's servitors(mindless amphibious thralls with translucent skin, caused by being exposed to aboleth mucus). For example, necklaces of adaptation to allow them to go out of the water(you can have the party encounter these early on, so that they can breathe when they enter the aboleth's lair), manta ray cloaks/gloves of swimming and climbing/rings of swimming for better swimming around. And then just some non thematic items like enchanted armor or weapons.
Additionally, aboleths gain the memories of their victims, and while their brains literally grow down their backs to accommodate these extra memories, they might eventually become too much. Perhaps the aboleth could have some sort of weird memory storage vault magic item that allows the user to draw from it and gain advantage on stuff, or cast some sort of divination spell for free.

Yeah ive been thinking about that. Most of the stuff for the thralls in this case wouldnt really be logical (altough im planning on using some of it) because the aboleth has a community of kuo-toa being devoted to him.

Well, the kuo-toa most likely worship the aboleth, if that's the case, so you could have some valuable idols in the aboleth's image.

Good idea, thats indeed what is going on here.
