You know, I've never watched-watched any of the Youtube series'. Critical Role looks cool, but I haven't wanted to start at Episode 1... is it that ongoing? Are there points where one could jump in?
We're doing our own book on Kickstarter! It's going to be amazing--300 pages, art, and so much high quality content you'll be drownin' in it... Click here to check it out and sign-up!
My friend showed it to me to have me watch a specific scene and I loved it, I thought they were all amazing. Having then went dozens of episodes back, I found out they even started out as amazing.
I couldn't say exactly where a good place would be to jump in, but I would suggest trying to watch from the beginning. It's all gold.
I just recently became a Critter. I started watching C.R. last week and am now 14 episodes in. I love it. The shoe had rekindled my live for D&D and that is why I am here now!

oh goodness.
Honestly, starting from episode 1 is the best way to go. The first arc of the show is about 11 episodes long, it's more of a dungeon crawl and it introduces the characters.
If you want to get an idea of what the stream and their style of roleplay is like without major story spoilers, you can watch episodes 17-20 where the party splits up and they do some sidequests.
I have a good episode guide that I'll edit into this post when I find it. :D
EDIT:I've found it! It's a couple of episodes behind, but that won't matter if you're new.
I am incredibly proud to see a bunch of Critters on here! I'm a relatively new DM (only have run two games), but I'm making plans for something bigger in time.

Yes, there are. Although you will be missing out on characters/story arcs that are referenced in the first story arc.
Here, you can find a list of the story arcs and jump in at the start of them. Although, I would still recommend watching this for a breakdown of what happened pre-stream and maybe reading the summaries which can be found here! I apologize for all the links, I hope this will allow you to get into and enjoy CR!
I need to finish watching episode 88... especially since 90 came out today.
On the topic of getting into Critical Role, it also stands to mention that Matt does a phenomenal recap at the beginning of every episode, at least covering the end of the previous arc and the events of the current arc. So regardless where you jump in, you should have at least some context.

Ooh, that's awesome! Maybe I can show that to a couple of my friends and get them to show a bit more interest... still a large number of my gaming group doesn't or hasn't watched. A summary of some episodes may help...
I've been a fan of Critical Role for almost two years, and have loved it since the I first found the episodes on YouTube. I adore every single one of the players and Matt as master story tellers. I was first introduced to D&D through Acquisitions Inc., due to just the humor, but CR is on another level entirely. Until about a year ago, I had never played a single game of D&D, but now that I have, I adore the game and all of its iterations and variations.
Oh yes! Critical Role is actually the reason I started DM'ing a 5th edition game instead of anything else with my current game group. So much inspiration!
I found a good place to start was just befofe the Briarwood arch (episode 24+). Its the first real arc that has lasting impact on the characters and story, and features the catch up video being introduced on vox's past. That, and as said earlier, Mercer's catch ups at the start of the episode make it easy enough to jump right in.
I ended up discovering Critical Role through Mark Hulmes' D&D show "High Rollers" over on the Yogscast channel (link to playlist here). They were in the last few episodes at the end of the Chroma Conclave arc, and after watching a little bit an episode, I decided I needed to watch it all, and ended up binge watching 80+ episodes in about two months! :P

Same here! I've watched every single show.

Great to see a Critical Role thread here! It's been one of my obsessions over the past year or so! I used up my data storage listening to the youtube shows and on my commute, and then figured out how to convert them to mp3s for my iPod. Great now for dog walks and long runs although I miss seeing the cast's physical actions and reactions. I have to resist the urge when creating a new character to make a gnome bard, or goliath barbarian...

I just rolled a druid based on recent happenings in the show, so I can completely understand that!

I play more of mash-up characters, though I'll admit to rolling a Dragonborn Sorcerer with a posh accent and a Half-Elf Rogue. Some of my more unconventional (and still fun) characters I've made were mash-ups, though. For example, my more recent Goliath Stone Sorcerer. I don't make a whole lot of Rangers or Druids, though.
It's nice to see more Critters!! Today I see the last episode and was hilarious, but actually I skip some episodes 'cause well... some of them are sooo f**** long and english isn't my mother tongue (I'm spanish) but anyway I can understand pretty much and enjoy it :)
And I didn't create any PC based on Vox Machina because I'm DM (someday they will do a cameo), but I did it in videogames like Pillars, Sword Coast Legends, Baldurs...
