Buying a Battle Smith does "unlock" the Artificer class, though your subclass options would be limited to the Battle Smith and whatever homebrew you may access too. It's currently the only class in that situation as every other class is part of the Basic Rules / SRD with two subclasses.

Minor correction, only 1 subclass for each of the SRD classes is free.
Hey guys, will buying the class type individually unlock it.....
I ask cause I really like the app platform and widget and want to unlock the ability to make an Articifer Character.
I don't see that option but I do see the option of buying the Battle Smith, Is this pretty much the same thing?
