I have tried to make a supporting character/ranged attacker for AL. Can you tell me if this character is AL legal and how you would improve him ddb.ac/characters/14284515/JesebH
There are a few things.
I Don't like how low his HP is, because I feel like he is going to die within the first 30 minutes with just 9HP
want him to be a bard with a high DEX and CHA
I want him to come from a spy background, so he is skilled in persuasion, deception, sleight of hand, stealth and performance
Also, although I was trying to make a supporting character, I feel like his spells and cantrips are just wrong.
It is AL legal. Note, your +1 source is Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, so as long as you stick to the Player's Handbook for spells, classes, subclasses, and feats going forward, you should be good to go.
That is the blight of level 1. It affects all new characters. If you plan on being a valor bard, you only really need 14 DEX, because you'll get medium armor proficiency. And for lore bards, the idea is not to get involved in melee to begin with, so I'd rank CON higher than DEX for them as concentration is important. If you later feel you need more armor class, you could take a feat or multiclass to gain that proficiency later.
Of course, if you prefer to have a high starting DEX and CHA, that is also fine. You can raise your CON or pick up the Tough feat, if you think you need more hit points later. Raising CON is better for concentration.
Vicious Mockery is a great support cantrip, because it imposes a debuff on opponents while also doing at least some damage. Friends is redundant with Charm Person, unless you like the side effect of Friends.

Thanks, guys.
