So first, a little background: me, my cousin, and our families are going on vacation soon. No one besides me and him have played D&D before, and we've been trying to find a good opportunity to introduce them, and let everyone see how fun it is.
Well, this vacation is basically perfect, and we thought it'd be cool if we did a short campaign, maybe even just a set of 2-4 one shots, in a tropical setting. I'm a bit of a new DM, but I don't think setting it up will be much of a problem. I was just curious if the DDB community had any ideas! My cousin and I like the idea of having at least part of it underwater, and maybe all of it. So if you have any thoughts, advice, or have done past campaigns like this, I would love to hear it!
I would set the campaign where you’re vacationing. Obviously several centuries in the past, but I’d use maps of that area and I would enjoy seeing if anyone figured it out.
Other than that, you can use the Tomb of Annihilation for inspiration. It has several different scenarios in it that you can adapt for a two to four session game and it’s tropical.

Ooooh, that's a good idea.
Oh man, unfortunately I don't own the Tomb of Annihilation. I wish I could do that, but do you have any other suggestions?
In older editions of the game in a campaign setting now all but lost to the annals of time there existed a land specifically designed as a resort for wealthy nobles who wanted to pretend to be adventurers. You may find some interesting and humorous materials if you can find a copy of the Gazetteer.

Frog God Games put out a series of books on the SahuaginI picked up Sea King's Malice and plan to use it as a replacement for one of the adventures in Ghosts of Saltmarsh. Problem with both Ghosts of Saltmarsh and Tomb of Annihilation (If I am remembering correctly for ToA) there is no real underwater activities. Sea King's Malice even has a chapter called Into the Depths. You may have too much content in the book, but I liked how it was put together.

A tropical spot can either be the Land of the Elves.... or also the Land of the Apes ( spoiler alert ).
My Ready-to-rock&roll chars:
Dertinus Tristany // Amilcar Barca // Vicenç Sacrarius // Oriol Deulofeu // Grovtuk

Not a bad thought.

Interesting! I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
Happy to help. There were even some adventure modules set in that kingdom, they’re listed in the Gaz.

You could likely use Ghosts of Saltmarsh.

Oh cool! Very useful, thanks!
All good ideas! Thank you!
I have created Clam Island which has tropical island / pirates theme. You may like it or want to use parts of it for inspiration.
