Hjalmar Gunderson, Alchemist, Artificer, Field Medic, Friend. Here he is trying to help out his party in the Demonweb Pits feeling very out of his depth.
Artist credit is Mike Faille. The art speaks for itself, he's an amazing artist and very communicative, conveying a sense that he actually cares about your character and portraying them accurately.

Character drawing by commission ordered from me. Tiefling sorcerer with powerful magic artifact that binds him to an otherworldly being. Has an aloof, haughty character. Recruited and trained by the Zhentarim he is sent on a mission as a political commissar type. Has cloak of defense and mage armor. An interesting character to portray. I wanted to show the expression of someone who is very self assured, maybe excessively, but also has the backing of two very powerful entities. A character at the beginning of his adventures but also a force to be reckoned with.
The whole character looks amazing but that staff is stealing all the spotlight. Really awesome!
How do you get concept art for your characters? I'm horrible at drawing and I have no money to commission it. Any help?
With the new color options, HeroForge is probably the best bet for creating a custom character without needing any art skills or money. You'd just need to take a screenshot of your finished miniature to have a good, professional looking character design.

^^^ This is the only real free option. occasionally you will see some artist doing free stuff...but the quality is poor. Best bet is get a job, open an account at Deviant Art and searching for commissions. ~~Be prepared to pay for good art. $250 and up for an American artist.

I've got Mike Faille lined up to do one of mine. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. He did one for a member of our last party - Merwin Bickerstaff - that you can see in the gallery. We all made it to level 20, so it seems right to honor that achievement.

Man, if I could afford to get him to do every character I've played and every character I dm I totally would!!! And you're right he is worth EVERY cent.

Some people use avatar makers online like picrew and rinmaru games, they have some pretty good options for fantasy type characters
