So, season 5 had a lot of new people confused. The adventures come out chronologically, but they cannot be played with the same character in that order. What does this mean? This means that you either have two options:
1. You've already been playing AL for some time and you have several characters all spread out throughout the tiers, as a result you play DDAL05-01 with a brand new character, then 5-2, 5-3, but then you switch to your tier 2 character for 5-4 and 5-5, and then back to your new character for 5-6 and 5-7 and so on and so forth.
2. This is your first time playing AL so what your DM does is run you through the adventures in this order, this kinda skips around the timeline, but it allows for several cohesive stories: DDAL05-01, 5-2, 5-3, 5-6, 5-7, 5-11, 5-12, 5-16, 5-4, 5-5, 5-10, 5-13, 5-17, filler content to get to T3, 5-8, 5-9, 5-14, 5-15, filler content to get to T4, 5-18, 5-19.
How big a deal are the timeline issues? I've been running the Tier 1 SKT adventures. I'm trying to figure out where to go after we do reach the end of the Tier 1 set (5-16). I also have to decide for sure what to use as filler to get them all to level 5 if we continue with SKT; I think I'm going to try using "A Great Upheaval" to do so. I'd have to beef up initial encounters, but it looks like I could split it up into 2-4 hour sessions pretty easily.
Remember that 4th level characters can instantly level up to 5th level by spending 20 downtime days (plus associated lifestyle expenses) to Catch Up.
But, honestly, you don't really need to worry about it. It's totally acceptable to jump into Chapter 2 of SKT at level 4. Like, let's be real, it's close enough.

This is wrong. The correct order is 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 12, 16, 4, 5, 11, 13, 17, 8, 9, 14, 15, [Epic], 18, 19.

Thanks. I did just run across that down-time rule. My crew is not to 4th yet; some may be when we wrap up the TIer one DDAL modules for SKT, so that's definitely an option for some of them. If we move on to Tier 2 adventures, though, it will be the DDAL modules, not the hardback, and that's the timeline I was asking about.
In that case my advice is to either a. Catch Up (you will definitely 100% be at least 4th level if you do all the Parnast mods; Giant Diplomacy's xp may have been nerfed by errata, but Parnast Under Siege still gives a crapton), or b. run A Great Upheaval and have Zephyros fly them to Stagwick instead of Bryn Shander.
So, I'm doing the Hidden Shrine, highly upgraded for difficulty. I'll probably do White Plume Mountain and/or Against the Giants at the the next tier intersection, also upgraded, if i see they need it.
I'm new to the Adventurer's League. And, looking over the Storm King's Thunder adventures, they jump from tier 1 to tier 2 and back again.
What is the proper order in which to run those adventures? Is there a story line to follow?

Do any of you have any ideas for filler content?
I was thinking of doing an upgraded version of Hidden Shrine of Tamoashan to boost them to 6, at least.
