I've been reading the Modern Magic unearthed arcana and a lot of homebrew about modern and sci-setting. That led me to an idea, which led to a couple of images. I'm a little too sleep deprived at the moment to give them any meaningful stats (such as translating hacking and malware in such a way that it would apply in any setting, not just a modern or sci-fi one), but I thought I would share the images/ideas anyway.
Computer/Laptop Mimic
Trojan File Mimic
Most likely, I'll have the computer mimic produce the file mimic as a virus to infect constructs and devices, which in turn gives the computer mimic control over them. That should be a broad enough set of terms to employ the mimics in a fantasy setting as well as a modern/scifi one.
And yes: that is the mimic entry on DnDBeyond on the mimic computer's screen on dndbeyond on your screen in a thread about mimics.
INCEPTION!
What about Amimics? Mimics that hunt and feed on other mimics? A halfling shuffles across the dungeon floor, approaching the treasure chest. As he picks it up, the treasure chest opens its mouth and prepares to bite...which is when the 'halfling's' own chest gapes open, revealing rows of teeth, and the Amimic swallows the mimic whole. Gulp.

It's an interesting concept/suggestion. And given it's positive feedback, I think I'll build one.
Sweet! You're the expert here (sincerely, this is really great stuff), that's why I posted the suggestion. Glad you like it :)
And, btw, I'll second the request for a PDF. There's so much work here, I know that 'selling' it probably would involve a lot of legal work with WotC trademarks and such, but if you put this together into a snazzy PDF, I for one would donate a few bucks to the cause (provided that didn't violate any legalities).
Any download for this there have been some very good ideas and I am curious if there is a pdf version?
I've been working on one on-and-off, but the building process is kind of on the back-burner; something I do when I don't have anything else to do. The very-far-behind-and-outdated pdf I currently have can be found here.

While I've put a lot of work into these mimics, they aren't really anything original or proprietary of mine; anyone could have come up with them, and many people did, one way or another, which is why so many of the mimics I've made stat blocks for have such neat images. People are also free to take any of them and make their own changes/spins/adaptations to them (and some folk have, even here on dndbeyond). After all: I didn't invent the mimic or the overwhelming majority of objects one can imitate, and I can't anticipate every need a DM may have for mimics. So: I make them out of my own obsession, and hope the community will enjoy them.
tl;dr: If/when the pdf is ever completed, it will be free of charge.
Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into a Small or Medium humanoid it has seen, or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics, other than its size and speed, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature that is grappling it or that is grappled by it.
Solvent (Humanoid Form Only). At the start of each of the mimic's turns, any creature adhering to it with adhesive takes 4 (1d8) poison damage, and must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. The mimic can use its bonus action to instantly succeed on an ability check or saving throw to escape being grappled or restrained by adhesive or webs.
Actions
Pseudopod.Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite.Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage plus 4 (1d8) poison damage.
Description
Amimics are a variety of amorphous shapechanging predators that have developed a series of unique adaptations to fill a unique niche in the ecology of the Underdark or in dungeons: they prey on mimics.
Amimics will polymorph themselves into a humanoid shape and wander through caverns and tunnels in search of crafted objects. When it finds one, it interacts with it; opening chests and doors to attempting to pick it up. If the object does not react, the amimic abandons it, seeking out another. If the amimic finds it cannot release its grasp on the object: it has found what it is looking for.
When a mimic reveals itself to the luckless humanoid that has touched it, it soon find that the meal to be had is not its own.
Like mimics, amimics secrete a substance from their skin. Unlike mimics, it is a toxic solvent that dissolves adhesives, rendering one of a mimic's biggest weapons and defense mechanisms usless and turning it against the monster.

I love it! Great artwork, and I love the description of the thing just stumbling around interacting with chests and cabinets, then stumbling away when they don't try to eat it. :D
I've given my players a tiny "baby" mimic after an encounter with a mimic door in a recent encounter. It was the key to the door.
I had it scurry off into a mouse hole, and after growing a bit I figure it will be a short of group familiar hanging around the Party's business, eating rats and perhaps eventually growing into a defense system. Naturally, such a creature will periodically create headaches.

Shapechanger. The mimic can use its action to polymorph into a graveyard, mausoleum, or tomb, or back into its true, amorphous form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 18). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage.
Corpses. When first encountered, the mimic contains the corpses of 4d4 humanoids. The mimic can hold the remains of up to sixteen dead humanoids. These remains have total cover against attacks and other effects outside the mimic. If the mimic dies, the corpses within it can be pulled free. While it has at least one humanoid corpse in its body, the mimic can use a bonus action to do one of the following:
The mimic digests one humanoid corpse in its body and instantly regains 9 (2d8) hit points. Nothing of the digested body remains. Any equipment on the corpse is expelled from the mimic in its space.
The mimic animates one dead humanoid in its body, turning it into a zombie. The zombie appears in an unoccupied space within 10 feet of the mimic and acts immediately after it in the initiative order. The zombie acts as an ally of the mimic but isn't under its control.
False Appearance (Object Form Only). While the mimic remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from an ordinary burial site.
Grappler. The mimic has advantage on attack rolls against any creature grappled by it.
Stench of Death. Each creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the mimic or one of its zombies after the mimic's nature has been revealed must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, unless the creature is a construct or undead. On a failed save, the creature is incapacitated until the end of its turn. Creatures that are immune to poison damage or the poisoned condition automatically succeed on this saving throw. On a successful save, the creature is immune to the stench of all grave grinder mimics for 24 hours.
Actions
Pseudopod.Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 20ft., one target. Hit 32 (4d12 + 6) bludgeoning damage. If the mimic is in object form, the target is subjected to its Adhesive trait.
Bite.Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 24 (4d8 + 6) piercing damage plus 9 (2d8) acid or poison damage (mimic's choice).
Premature Burial. The mimic makes one bite attack against a Medium or smaller creature it is grappling. If the attack hits, the target takes the bite's damage, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. While swallowed, the creature is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the mimic, and it takes 7 (2d6) acid damage plus 7 (2d6) poison damage at the start of each of the mimic's turns. A creature that dies while swallowed can be used with the mimic's Corpses trait.
If the mimic takes 20 damage or more on a single turn from a creature inside it, the mimic must succeed on a DC 21 Constitution saving throw at the end of that turn or regurgitate all swallowed creatures, including any corpses it contains, which fall prone in a space within 10 feet of the mimic. If the mimic dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse by using 20 feet of movement, exiting prone.
Undertake. The mimic grabs one unsecured dead humanoid within 20 feet of it and stuffs the corpse into itself, along with any equipment the corpse is wearing or carrying. The remains can be used with the mimic's Corpses trait.

Description
Grave grinder mimics tend to lurk in the graveyards of regions affected by famine or plague, where deaths are substantially higher than usual. Taking the form of grave plots, mausoleums, and tombs, they readily accept the steady flow of remains. Should the region recover, and the number of deaths diminish, a grave grinder mimic still need not go hungry. They merely need to wait for any funeral, then deploy their adhesive to trap and consume the living attendees.
I absolutely love everything about this. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.

I think acid damage would be more fitting over poison for the Solvent ability. As acid is very often used as a solvent for many materials.
