When my player(s) go invisible they can perceive the world anyway they see fit. Within reason of course. They do not perceive it as Etherealness...that is another spell/potion all together. They're also invisible to each other. However opponents that use tremor sense, have increased perception by smell/sound can still notice where the player is. In the latter case a simple perception vs stealth check.

When a character uses invisibility, do you change how the world is perceived? Monochrome and windy like LotR? Slight distortion like Harry Potter?
Are all or some invisible creatures in phase with each other so they can see each other?

Not unless the spell or effect that's granting invisibility says the creature can see invisible creatures.
It was more a question of how it works in other folks' campaigns.

I just make them invisible, even to themselves, though they can make out the shape and location of their body and equipment when they try.
