So I’m in the process of coming up with an adventure campaign for my players. With October around the corner I’m looking to run a spooky game. My issue is finding decent monsters to challenge the players with that are not undead. I’m kinda wanting the whole Deadites from the Evil Dead deal but I just can’t seem to find an equivalent. Any suggestions?
What level range are you aiming for? Also consider some devils, demons, or constructs that are thematically appropriate and in their level range.
EDIT: To also solve some of that level issue, consider something of a body swap episode. I did a Halloween game where I swapped all of my players into the bodies of custom-made scarecrow characters due to some Kenku ritual for the night. When the Druid tried to animal shape, I had a small selection of plant-based monsters on hand for her to turn into instead of her usual list. It was pretty fun watching them try to solve the issue of the evening with new bodies and unfamiliar powers.
And those are just fiends and aberrations that come to mind. You can get a lot of mileage out of other normal things like Kenku or Scarecrows, or constructs that can play the part of haunted armors or dolls.
Dybbuks are perfect for deadites. They're literally demonic spirits that possess dead bodies. Honestly, I'm pretty sure they were inspired by evil dead.
Just re-skin stuff. There is no reason you cannot have deadites if you want them. You could even mix and match creature stats to come up with what you want. I do this kind of stuff all the time. There is also a ton of home brew stuff out there that you might find to be suitable for your needs. Jump on pintrest and start searching. Ton of stuff on there.

Level range 4-11. Demons work well for the setting but want those to be slowly introduced rather than the first encounter they run into.
Appreciate the help. Diving into the Devils has quite a few options I can fashion into Deadites.
For lower levels:
Mid-levels:
Higher levels:

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."

Nothics would also work as a type of deadite.
