So I recently picked up the Stranger Things starter kit from my local game shop because my BF wanted me to run it for him (and also he wanted the cute demogorgan mini) and when I was reading through the module that it came with, I was struck by just how clean and easy the module was to read compared to most game modules out there.
For reference, I've been DM'ing for only a few months and usually write my own homebrew campaigns, but I have run some module stuff in the past and while the module-based games I've done have been well recieved, reading through the modules themselves is often a bit hit-or-miss with having to constantly flick back and forth between the source-books to figure certain things out when they become relevant, ect. Meanwhile, the pseudo-handwritten "made by some kid in his spare time" look of the Stranger Things module struck me as being incredibly easy to follow for a pick-up-and-play style game.
And then my BF came to me saying he wanted to try running a game himself. He's very new to the idea and doesn't want to become overwhelmed with info, and I feel like a module written in the same straightforward style as the Stranger Things one would be perfect for him to run as a first campaign. Does anybody know of any similarly-written modules anywhere? I'd be very appreciative!
That module was written the way “modules” used to be written. Modern ones are more like campaigns. You would probably find what you’re looking for on the DM’s Guild by looking for 5e conversions of old 1e & 2e Modules.

I'll have a look at those, thanks! Would appreciate any specific suggestions if you know of any that might be good for a first-time DM to run.
The Village of Homlet is a classic.
look at the “Coded modules (1978–1994).” Any of the “AC” or “B” modules would work well too: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dungeons_%26_Dragons_modules
