I'm running a seafaring campaign and realized there are no real aquatic dragons so I've decided to homebrew one. So far the I've decided that it's breath weapon will be thunder and it's lair will be a collection of sunken and ghost ships. Any suggestions for the rest of it's stats or personality?
I made a sea serpent homebrew monster. If might want to use/draw inspiration from it I can post the link in this thread.

I'm just your everyday dungeon master. Ignore that jar full of souls. And those bones in the corner are just props, don't worry. I'm definitely NOT a lich. Definitely.
Yes, I like beholders. Yes, I curated an exquisite personality for commoner #2864. Yes, my catchphrase is "are you sure?"
Maybe it is unable to fly because it is among a few dragons that were trapped in the Plane of Water and have since magically adapted to that plane, but occasionally wander back to the Material Plane, living in the oceans and seas and being confused for dragon turtles.
Maybe it has a side breath weapon that is kinda like hydrothermal vents.
Maybe it could use this wings, that have adapted to being underwater, as fins
What type of base dragon it was influences its personality and, since you said it had a lightning breath weapon, maybe it was a blue dragon before it got yeeted into the Plane of Water and hasn't changed much personality-wise

adult bronze dragon is listed as a "coastal" creature (all the bronze ones are). Blue dragons are listed for deserts and coasts.
