Results for the Competition of the Finest Brews VII
First, I’d like to thank you all for submitting all your wonderful homebrews, and for voting responsibly. With your support, the CotFB can move to its next iteration! Now, without further adieu, the winners of each category:
Now, the moment you’ve been waiting for, the overall winner of the Competition of the Finest Brews VII!
With the highest average across the most submissions, we have Heartofjuyomk2! Congratulations, and thanks again to everyone who participated! I’m looking forward to joining in the next competition!
Side note: I was really rooting for the Oath of the Wild Hunt to win, but unfortunately it had a vote that marked it as a 1, and that offset it too much for it to beat the Lost Depth’s 4. Better luck next time, Semako!
Congratulations Heartofjuyomk2! Also thanks to MilestoGo_24 for hosting. This competition was very fun and I look forward to the next one. Thank you to everyone who submitted content. I have to say that all the content was amazing and a joy to read.
Sidenote: Ah, I was doing well at first and was hoping for my first ever win in the PC option category... Maybe next time.
Yes, that was really unfortunate. I am still curious why it got such controversal votes... maybe some votes would like to give feedback on it? Especially the one who voted with a 1? This 1 literally was what made my Oath of the Wild Hunt not win, as the difference between it and the winner Lost Depth is exactly 1 point - Lost Depth scored 36 and my Oath of the Wild Hunt scored 35.
Thanks for running the competition, I am looking forward to the next one as well. Thank you to everyone who took part! And shame on those who violated copyright and trolled the survey-
Lost Depth scored 36 and my Oath of the Wild Hunt scored 35.
The scores were based on averages, but even so I feel that if the rating were even like a 3 instead of 1 it would have won. Anyhow
If by average you mean the arithmetic mean, and both had the same number of total votes (I don't see why they woudn't), then the total and average would give the same result as to who wins. If a>b, then a/x>b/x for all x, x>0. So yes in fact, if it were a two they would have tied and if it were a three Semako would have won.
Maybe someone didn't like the idea of a stealth barbarian? I personally think it's an amazing idea, but it also goes a little against the grain of the standard barbarian image. Or maybe they were voting based on the old version? (To be clear, I woudn't necessarily have given the old version a one, but I could see someone doing so more than the new version per se)

I voted that 1, as I really feel that because you originally missed the point with the subclass and then were very rude about it, and as such I would not support bad behavior. I see you did the exact same to the Magitech Armour, so all's fair. To be clear, I have no hard feelings, I just can't look at the Wild Hunt and feel confident it should have won.
Also HeartofJuyomk this win has been a while coming, hasn't it! Nice! I really thought Semako would have taken it... My vote didn't skew the poll much last I checked, so its a surprise.
-Sorry, but this is no-go behaviour and nothing but childish. I gave a valid reason and explanation for why I gave you a 2 on your DM submission - it just had a lot of mechanical issues; and I voted with a 4 for the Whispering - I voted without taking your behaviour into account since I thought that was done and gone, I voted only based on your submissions. Also, if someone was rude about that, it was you, who called me a cheater. All I made was a mistake due to misunderstanding the category. But I reworked my subclass and according to what others wrote, it seems to fit the category well now and is well-received.
I feel really sad that people like you ruin otherwise great contests and amazing sources of creativity with their behaviour...
If I had the power to, I would disregard Yamana's vote from the results as well. Votes should be evaluations of the submissions themselves, and not on personal grudges against specific contestants.

I agree with Semako. This voting policy is not acceptable. However, the competition is done. If arguing should continue (which I would not recommend) it must be in private messages.

I don't wish to continue the argument. However, I do think this brings up a valid point. What exactly counts as "troll voting"? Obviously voting everything one and yourself five is troll voting, but there can be more nuance, such as Yamana's choice to vote oath of wild hunt one (I would say it's not troll voting personally). Before our next competition we should set up guidelines for what exactly is "fair voting". We can discuss it have a poll, or maybe leave it up to the host of a given competition.

(Oath of the Wild Hunt is a Paladin subclass.)
(My bad... I don't even know what I was thinking)

I would say setting official rules and just asking for honorable voting would be best, because making it up to the host would be tricky.
I could not in good faith give Semako a vote any higher than a 1 for that option. But, still I accept that is unacceptable to you. As such I will not be participating in any future CotFB on this site out of respect for your stance.

Also I didn't like the option anyway so it would have gotten a 3 at most. The theme just doesn't resonate with me well.
I am sorry you feel this way. I am not trying to prohibit you from joining future competitions, I am only trying to explain that arguments should not get in the way of actual appreciation of content creation. All I mean is: be fair.

Semako's (and to an extent, my own) comments and the troll votes and fake submissions have put me off CotFB anyway. This place seems to have turned toxic, that is the last thing I ever intended.
My vote may be seen as "petty and childish", but know this: if someone deserves praise regardless of how well they have done, I shall give it. And for Semako I felt, due to their attitude and response to being told their option did not fit the category, they did not deserve such praise (in fact they were incredibly rude). So I rated the option a 1. Also, as I said, it appeared that Semako's option would win by default at the time regardless of my vote so I feel no guilt over this. I see this as fair and I understand if you don't, and respect your point of view as likely being morally superior and unbiased. But I can't in good faith continue in CotFB. And I know I failed you MilestoGo with my poor attitude, and I am sorry to all involved in this.

How is it going with setting up the new contest? :-)
