Hi, so I have been making a homebrew subclass for monk and I wanted this subclass to grant them an extra attack! So I go and make a modifier and choose “set” and then “extra attacks” and I go and say I want 1 more attack! But when I tested it, it didn’t work! I have been trying for 2 hours please help!
No, it should be “Set” and not “Bonus.” That’s how they make sure that the Extra Attack features don’t stack. You can see for yourself if you make a subclass using the Battle Smith as the template.
I have been trying to make a monk homebrew subclass that grants extra attacks, but no matter how hard I try I can’t quite get it to work. I made a new ability thingo and chose modifier, then chose “set” for the first box and “extra attack” for the second box and then input the number 1 for how many. But it just wasn’t working, send help (and cheetos…)
I realised I already posted this, soo.. ignore one this one
edit: it did not work, I have now set it to 15 for absurdity just for testing purposes, it has occurred to me that it may be server lag. But now it just says 4 attacks, are Monks supposed to have 4 attacks?
I assume you're putting the 1 in the Fixed Value field? If so then this should be correct.
Do you already have the sub-class assigned to a character? Sometimes it can take a while before homebrew changes are reflected on characters that already have it (up to 20 minutes), though you can sometimes short-circuit this if you reduce the character's level so that it loses the Extra Attack feature, then increase its level again to force it to be reapplied.

Looks like this thread got merged; in that case as IamSposta said, if you're trying to go to three attacks per turn then you need Set -> Extra Attacks with a Fixed Value of 2.
There is another modifier Bonus -> Extra Attacks which with a Fixed Value of 1 lets you just add one more attack, but this would cause it to stack when multi-classing with another class that has the Extra Attack feature which could be exploitable depending upon the level of the feature?

No, Monks do not get 4 attacks. You “set it to 15 for absurdity,” but the max is 4 for Fighters, so it defaulted to the maximum for your test. Set the modifier as follows:
Modifier: Set->Subtype: Extra Attacks->Fixed Value: 2
Then [SAVE] the modifier, [SAVE CHANGES] on the subclass feature and then [
Then wait the 20 minutes for the servers to cache.
All of which I told you to wait way back in post #2. If you had simply followed the link to the FAQ like I suggested, this would have been working for you for 15 hours already.

Monks already get extra attack at 5th level. You likely need to Set the Extra Attacks to 2. In addition, please see the General FAQ #s 6 & 6-B: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).

Ah really? Then maybe its just server time.

This is what I did, and it didn’t work?
Ok so I need to do the same thing but set it to 2?
What does this mean?
I think it worked!

Alright so I managed to fix it, it was a glitch regarding my race (somehow) as I had had it at these settings:
since I started. I changed the character to a variant human and now it’s functioning. Thanks guys!
