Has anyone played around with reducing the range of damage cantrips at their base and increasing the range as they scale with damage? Basically what I was thinking is starting attack cantrips at a 30 foot range and increasing it by 30 feet at each tier so they would all end up with a 120 foot range, unless effected by a feat. This would exclude EB for warlocks, that spell is too much their bread and butter as it sits. Just something I've been tossing around in my head and wondering if anyone else has done it and how it effects spellcasters at early levels.
For spells like fire bolt, they only do damage and need the extra range for game balance purposes. For most spells with riders like ray of frost, a 120 ft. range would be a bit much. In fact, the 120 ft. range on chill touch is probably a bit much.

Kind of sounds like your favoring EB above all others. You should not do that.
EB might be in your opinion the bread and butter for warlocks, FB is the bread and butter for wizards in my opinion. Chill touch for the necromancer.
