There is one week remaining in the competition. There are still no submissions for the inspirational option, so if you can get something in you might be able to win that category unopposed.
I'm working on an adventure, I will probably get it in the day or so before the competition ends, but I'm close to being done now.
I like it. Its carry/attach abilities all feel like a unique player mobility option. Just a few notes
1) Given the unique nature of its mobility options, I dont know that you can technically call it a "cloud mount" since it doesnt use mount mechanics
2) It isnt stated how you actually summon the cloud. Do you use an action, bonus action, or otherwise? How many times can you summon it?
3) I feel like enemies should have some method of dispersing the cloud permanently. Right now, you get a cloud that helps you and your teammates in numerous ways for no apparent cost, and the best an enemy can hope to do is disperse it for less than a round if they have access to wind/explosion spells.
4) The recall ability seems a little weird because it is listed under the cloud's reactions in the stat block, but actually uses your reaction. This feature might need to be moved outside of the stat block
This is an excellent and unique idea, and I look forward to how it fully turns out. Please keep me updated if you publish a new version so I can update the link
1) yeah that makes sense which is why I asked about that at the start. However, I may just change the wording to say something about mounting it. Then I could remove the part about increasing your movement speed. It will instead be implied that it is the clouds movement speed because you have mounted it.
2) I based some of the subclass on the swarmkeeper ranger which also doesn't specify how you summon the swarm. I think it's implied that you always have it available.
3) yeah I feel that it is lame to be able to lose "The" feature of your subclass to a fireball spell. So that's why I made it the start of your next turn, I could nerf it to the end of your next turn. But again the swarmkeeper ranger can't lose his swarm either. So I feel like having it return at the start still respects effects that would interact with the cloud without causing you to literally lose your subclass for it.
4) Yeah the clouds reaction abilities were a little weird to come up with but it specifically states that you use your reaction to use the clouds reaction. However it might be easier to just make that a player reaction and do the same thing. I wanted to keep all the cloud abilities and interactions in the cloud statblock if possible. But I may take that out.
Now that I finally had the time to make it, here's my PC submission, Bind Steed.
Looks cool! I’m glad you gave it to rangers, it can help someone trying to go for the Ranger’s Apprentice type. Tip: don’t put subclasses on the class list, as it forces them to have it as an “always prepared.”
With just a little over a day left in the competition, it appears that the Inspirational Option was not very inspiring itself this time around. I still encourage everyone to try and get something in, even if its as simple as a character build describing what you think Merridith would be like as a D&D PC.

Huh, I thought it only did that to classes that actually prepared it. 🤷♂️ I’ll try to remove EK and AT from the class list later today. It also didn’t occur to me that this on a ranger is basically a summary of all of Ranger’s Apprentice, but I’m glad you pointed it out. It makes me want to use it even more 😂.

I'm trying to do something for that. I may or may not be able to get it in though.

Dang, I don't have enough time to finish the adventure, I had six D&D standard pages but I got myself into a whole because I still had a lot more stuff to write. I may (probably not) finish the adventure for fun some day. I'm sorry guys, I really thought I would be able to do this, but it turned out I just didn't have enough time 😭.
I might make a quick brew just so I can participate in this competition though.
Adventures, especially long ones, are hard. Mine was around five pages and, although I finished it early, it was a ton of work.
Eeesh, now I'm thinking I've gone way overboard on the one I'm writing. It's a 6-7 hour oneshot, and thus far it's 19 pages... :/
Oh, how exciting! 19 pages is practically a module. Can’t wait to see it!
I am the man who, when asked by the mrs to build a Catio, did no googling besides "what is a catio", found out it's "a contained outdoor space so a cat can be outside the house", and instead of then discovering that it's usually a 1m x 2m x 2m tall box tacked onto the side of the house, I built something slightly grander. We now have a 5m x 4m cage-walled room on the side of the house, with wood floor, sofa, table, and soon to be lots of cat platforms.
TBH though, I'd feel kinda bad if I won just by submitting without any competition.

Ok I added an 11th ability "Cloudburst"
I'm going to altar the wording of the other features as I described earlier and that will be pretty close to it
