No sure if this is the correct forum to post in or ask this question or if it has been asked before but I couldn't find anything through the search bar.
Is there anyway to create a basic weapon in the homebrew section for my players to use or would I need to go into their character sheets and manually add a custom attack?
To give more details, I'm running a homebrew campaign over discord based on D&D and magic meets American westerns and I was wanting to create base fire arms to introduce to the party within the first session or two. I know I could use the musket from SRD as a base but when I go to create it in home brew, I do not see an area that lets me adjust the range or the damage dice.
Any help is appreciated because I'm fairly new to homebrewing on Beyond and it could simply be something I am over looking.

Unfortunately while it's a much-requested feature, the DND Beyond staff have said they're not going to impliment anything like this. Apparently, according to one of their forum posts from a while back, it has something to do with what they're allowed to do by Wizards.
The only workaround I've found is to create the item as a wonderous item and then separately create a homebrew feat with the attacks you'd like to have.

Your information is out of date. From what I remember about several posts Adam (BadEye) made in a different thread about a month ago, he was finally able to convince WotC to put a pin in their *atavistic fear of their official content getting confused with homebrew. The character sheet revamp, the homebrewery, and the “inventory enhancements” as well as finally implementing the CFVs and the Mark Spells from E:RftLW are all integrated in the DDB system. We might see this functionality sooner than we think.
*(Apparently WotC was under the delusion that everything they have published for 5e is 100% completely balanced, and that the very player base they use to bet their ideas in UA pre-publication are completely incapable of creating balanced homebrew content. 🤣 Admittedly, their opinion was based on the D&D Wiki. 🙄)

Oh well that's really great news! Thank you! Here's hoping it happens soon because I'm getting pretty sick of all the hacky stuff I have to do when homebrewing on here!
Hi sorry for posting on an old thread but do you know if this information is still up to date? I'd love to be able to add a home-brew base weapon but it still doesn't seem like functionality is there yet, almost 3 years after this post.
Just wondering if I should expect to see it implemented at any point or not get my hopes up :)
