Sorry if this was asked elsewhere, but I couldn't find it and I couldn't get it to work when I was trying to add it to an item of mine. Essentially, I have this right here
"larger to make a DC {{savedc:str}} Strength saving throw. On failure, the creature is knocked prone."
in the description of my homebrew item. The goal is to have the save DC be automatically calculated with STR + Proficiency but it doesn't seem to be working for me whenever I look at the item. Am I doing something wrong or will this just not work?
Also, is there any way to allow a homebrew item to grant the user a bonus action? Because I'm planning on having this item allow this ability as a bonus action.

Currently Magic Items cannot add Actions to the character sheet, though it is planned for some point in the future. (No idea when.)
Snippets only work in Snippet fields, not Description Fields. Magic Items do not have the appropriate field for that to work. You will just have to describe it in plain text.
They're only associated with homebrew subclass features.
And Feats and Race/Subrace/Variant Race features.
Right. I hashed this one. It's basically anything automatically showing up on your character sheet.
Yeah, stuff that you “are.” What Snippets do is pull info directly from the character sheet to populate the descriptions for abilities they get that come from themselves.
Stuff that you “have” like spells and magic items not so much. Those are not designed to draw info for their descriptions from the characters.
Okay, so it looks like there's no way to make the description of the item work and automatically calculate the save DC or give this action to the player as a bonus action then? I suppose that's alright and I can just list it as the save DC being 8+STR+Proficiency and have the player manually calculate it.

Wait, where's the snippet field? I was unable to find it. Thanks for the clarification though.
