Since I want my PCs to have an aberrant mark that grows in power as the players us it more....and since they are 3rd level and I can't use a feat (or can I?).....how would y'all go about creating different dragon marks?
The PCs in my campaign have met a nothic, which "gave" them aberrant marks. Each player gave me a list of their wants/goals/fears, and I'm building the marks based on those. For example, the monk wants to be able to heal people (so, when he REALLY wants to do that, he actually steals a healing spell from the cleric, as he grows in power, he won't steal from the cleric). The fighter wants to be the greatest sword fighter ever, so if he fails on an attack by 5 or more, he can re-roll once per short rest, granting him advantage, but giving a random creature in the fight disadvantage on their next attack.
Basically, the marks are weak right now, and using them has positive effects for the players, but negative for random (if possible) creatures around them. Over time, I'll be making them more powerful....and more under their control.
Anyway, any thoughts on how to set this up here? I'm thinking background......
As a DM you can grant feats to any character of any level at any time.
Directly on the DDB character sheet, under the “Features & Traits” portion, look at the “feats” tab and you will see an option to “manage feats.” Feats can be added to a character there directly, it was implemented specifically for DMs to be able to do exactly what you want to do.

After looking at options, I think I'll make these magic items.......then any race/class/level can have them.....
