One idea I had which seems like it would be a perfect fit for the Artificer would be a subclass that allows you to build a mechanical mount. I feel like in most games, mounts and vehicles are mostly hand-waved away, requiring only the occasional check here and there for handling/controlling it. But, the idea here is sort of "the car guy" for D&D. Someone who spends all of their time maintaining and upgrading their mount so it gets them to and from their destination as quickly as possible and has a few fun bells and whistles to show off.
So, what do you think would be some good advantages that a mechanical mount could grant to the Artificer and the party? Perhaps a faster base speed than a normal mount, with options to introduce more movement options later on. Maybe the ability to pull larger carts and heavier objects later on.
I wanted to post this here to help brainstorm ideas, because I really dig the idea of essentially being Knight Rider or Speed Racer in D&D.
It's an interesting idea, though I've no suggestions of the top of my head for how the sub-class might work specifically at the moment.
There's already a clockwork mount (though I can't for the life of me remember which book it's in) which seems ideal for an artificer who could fix it up or upgrade it. You could maybe do it with infusions that apply only to a mount, and give the artificer bonus infusion slots for mounts only (in the same way the Armorer (UA) sub-class does). They'd have to be interesting and unique enough to justify why only this flavour of artificer could do them though.
The other thing to look at might be the Cavalier sub-class of Fighter who specialises in mounted combat, if you wanted to make the Artificer better at handling a mount in combat in ways that complement (rather than replace) the Mounted Combat feat.

I’m actually kinda working on one. I’ll share it when it’s ready. It has different mount “chassis” you can choose from at 3rd level and they get upgrades.

Haravikk - Thanks for the input. I definitley tried to come up with some "mount specific" infusions

Here is what I have come up with so far. Let me know what critiques or suggestions you have, especially regarding the spell choice: The Jockey
