So I'm trying to build my homebrew race which gives the player the option to pick two different ability scores to increase, but I don't want them to be able to stack. So Bonus - Choose Ability Score isn't an option, because the player can choose the same ability score twice. How do I work it in so that once they pick Charisma or any other, they can't choose it again. It works with Half-Elves, since they get +2 to Charisma and then +1 to two other ability scores (and when you make a Half-Elf, you can't stack those, you have to pick two different scores).
I'm afraid that's not true. If I choose Constitution for one of my other two ability scores to improve, I cannot choose it again. I want to emulate that for my homebrew race. If my player chooses Strength, for example, I don't want them to be able to choose Strength again when assigning their second free ability score point.

How do I input that in the modifiers?
The only reason Half-Elf works is because the charisma is set, and the other option is that specific list of the other 5 abilities.
