"The relevant equation is: Knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass; a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read." - Terry Pratchett
The bonded weapon idea is similar to a spellblade class I saw homebrewed on DM's guild.
I would give the EK half spell progression instead of a third, remove the spell restrictions and allow their bonded weapon to be a focus if I were to rework the Eldritch Knight. That should make them more appealing. If you wanted to keep the third spell progression give them Ritual spells and a spell book like a wizard. Either option would broaden their appeal and make them feel like a classic fighter/mage of old.
I like the idea of a fighter who is bonded with a weapon.
I don't understand this; it appears that you can charge your bond weapon with any level of spell. Perhaps you gain another charge?
Also if you're worried about it being broken, reevaluate Eldritch Strike and Arcane Charge.
