You get the subclasses starting abilities at level 1 but get all subsequent features one level later than usual (Expect level 20 Paladin abilities those are still level 20 as you can't go past level 20) is this balanced?
this most certainly a case by case scenerio for starters this does not include the warlock sorcerer and cleric subclasses because those are already level 1
so starters artificer progression 1st 6th 10th and 16th which is a decent progression but artificer subclasses are bit unbalanced for 1st level (all of them) so got to make new versions
barbarian will get 1st 7th 11th 15th which is not a great progression at the start but we have less balance issues here
for bard you get 1st 7th 15th not good progression at all but no real balance issues here
